A long debated question - should children be sent to one sex schools?

For the development of children and teens being exposed to all types of diversity, including
gender diversity is crucial in order to gain social skills, become accepting and tolerant of
others. But even though this is a well known fact people still choose single-sex schools over
co-ed schools.
In my opinion, it is much more beneficial for children and teens to study in co-ed schools
since it is proven that numerous benefits come from such a decision. One of the better
known benefits from children studying in co-ed schools is their improved social skills. Even
though children in single-sex schools are reported to have less behavioral issues since they
do not interact with the opposite sex and have less distractions, learning how to interact with
people of the opposite sex is necessary to be able to thrive in the modern world. After all, life
is co-ed.
The second benefit of co-education is the respect that forms for the opposite gender.
Studying at a co-ed school means that interacting with the opposite sex is almost mandatory
if wanted to ,,survive” school and with regular interaction in the same environment respect
forms naturally seeing that equality is promoted in the classrooms of these kids. Kids in co-
ed classes have an expanded worldview and respect for others.
Although, some people exclaim that single-sex schools are superior to those of co-ed. They
often argue that separating students by gender to address the different learning styles of
girls and boys is valid. However, counter to gender tendencies, some boys prefer a quiet and
calm classrooms and some girl enjoy a more active classroom. To sum up, rather that
stereotyping students by gender, it would be more beneficial to separate kids by their
learning styles as assessed through testing.
To conclude everything that is stated above, co-education schools have much more benefits
in comparison to single-sex schools. Co-ed schools promote equality, help develop an open
mind and form respect for others while single-sex schools help students gain better grades
and do not prepare them for the ,,real” world.
