WORLD LITERATURE

1. What Spanish tradition mention in literature similar to the Republic of the Philippines.
What is not the same.

I think if there is something that Spain has left us that is still very evident in our country
that would be religion. We know that we are a former colony of Spain for a very long time and to
be exact for 333 years. And for those 3 centuries of being a colony, of course we have picked
some of the Spanish traditions and assimilated it into our culture. And another thing that we have
picked from the Spaniards is the fiestas which are connected to religion. Spanish literature has a
rich tradition of fiestas. And we know here in the Philippines, fiestas are an integral part of our
life as Filipinos, and some of our fiestas here in our country are often centered around Catholic
patron saints.
Another thing that I think we have similarity to the Spanish tradition is the importance of
family and community. Spanish literature often emphasizes the importance of family and
community ties which can also be found here in the Philippines. I can say that the Philippines
and Spain highlights the strong bonds and support system within the families and communities/
And what is not the same is I think our folklore and mythology. The Spanish literature
was highly influenced by European folklore and mythology, while for us Filipinos, we
incorporate the indigenous folklore and mythology, which includes our superstitious culture as
Filipisnos.
In conclusion, while we cannot deny the fact that Spain has left a significant impact in
our country, Filipino tradition and literature has also evolved that made it unique that can be
identified as our very own Filipino tradition and literature.

2. What about life did you learn from literature.

Studying literature has provided me with valuable insights and skills that can I
apply to various aspects of my life. Like empathy and understanding. Studying literature
can take us to the lives of different people, and allow us to step into their life and develop
empathy like the life of Anne Frank that we have tackled in our class. And through the
exploration of different perspectives, I have gained a deeper understanding about human
nature, cultural diversities and the complexities of the human condition. And this
understanding that I have gained fosters tolerance and compassion, and the ability to
relate to others.
Another thing that I have learned from studying literature is cultural and historical
awareness. Literature provided insights into different cultures, historical periods, and
social context. It introduced to me different values, and beliefs of various societies which
deepened my cultural awareness and my perspectives. By studying literature from
different time periods, we can also understand how societies have changed.
In conclusion, studying literature made me develop essential skills that have
broaden my horizon with greater insight and sensitivity.
