B. Developmental Activities

I. Presentation (I do)
a. Define volume.
b. State the formula for finding the volume of cylinder.
c. Show step by step procedure in finding the volume of the cylinder.
II. Guided Practice Board work (We do)
Asks everyone to read the given problem.
Procedural type, guide pupils one by one per step as they answer the given problem.
1. Who can write the formula for finding the volume of the cylinder?
2. Identify the radius of the circular base. ___________
3. Identify the height. ________
4. Substitute the values to the equation. __________
5. Solve the equation.
6. State the answer.

C. Application/ Independent Practice (You Do)

Decode Me!
Let us have a group activity. We will call this “Hunt then Solve”. Count off 1-3. Group 1 will occupy
these seats, the group 2, and 3 . You are tasked to find the specific functional cylindrical object within the
school premises. Every member will help in doing the task.
I will give you an activity sheet wherein you need to answer as a group but only one member will answer
for each item.
Class, please observe cooperation, timeliness, neatness of work. The group who will finish earlier will be
given 5 points, 4 points, 3 points and 2 points respectively. You will be graded individually and as a
group. Write your name before the number of your assigned item. After you finish the activity, please
post your activity on the board, is that clear? Go to your respective groups now.

D. Generalization
How do you find the volume of cylinder?
E. Valuing
Look at this empty cylindrical jar.
Fill it up with ping pong balls. Is it full? ___________
Fill it up with pebbles, is it full?_____________
Fill it up with sand, is it full? ___________
Fill it up with water.
The cylinder is just the same in your life. The ping pong balls represent your time you use for your
families-your parents, siblings; the pebbles are the important things, education, your house, the job of
your parents; the sands are the not so important things; playing cellphone games, watching TikTok’s,
social medias, chatting to strangers, vices, etc. The water represents the celebration in all your
endeavors.
Nothing is impossible if you focus or use your time on what is important rather than in not so
important things. What do you think will happen if you use all your time on not so important things?
Will there be a space for your families? Will you be able to succeed someday?

IV. Evaluation
Directions: Find the volume of the cylinder. Show all pertinent solutions.

1. What is the volume of a cylindrical mug whose radius is 2 inches and height is 4 inches?

2. What is the volume of this figure?

V. Agreement

1. Study today’s lesson.

2. Make one problem about the volume of cylinder. Write in on one half sheet of paper.
Write the complete solution on your notebook.
