The tutor class photo and student ID photo will take place on the 20th and 21st of February (Monday and

Diabolo Club - Diabolo is one of the performance sports that appear in Rangi’s Chinese Night that involves
using a yo-yo to show off tricks - no prior experience is needed to join in! We have weekly practices in the
Sound Garden on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays after school, so come along (provided the
weather is good) if you’re interested.

Environmental Group Working Bees - If you'd like to contribute to environmental services to our school
and build a more sustainable culture, come to C5 at lunch on Monday, 20th Feb for more information.

Interschool Debating Competition Sign Up


There will be a sign up for an interschool debating competition on Tuesday lunchtime in J3.  
Senior teams are very limited this year so only senior students with previous debating experience for our
school will be eligible to sign up.

Rangi Photo Club - Keen to have a go at photography as a hobby, or to get creative with your camera with
likeminded people? Join us Lunchtime Wednesday 22 February in A14 to find out how to get involved in
the Rangi Photo Club! All year levels welcome. No experience necessary.

Esports - There is a Rocket League 5-week long tournament starting soon. Games are on Wednesday
afternoons and running this term only. It is free to enter with Logitech prizes up for grabs. If you're

CANDYWAVES 2023 - The BIGGEST club in Rangi is back for 2023!


Candywaves provides comfort for kids in Starship when they feel the most vulnerable. Through this club,
you can get involved in various fun and rewarding activities like making cards, creating fun activities and
participating in fundraisers to help support kids in hospitals around Aotearoa.
This club can also be put on your student profile, junior diploma and sva account!
Come to E2 at lunchtime on Tuesday 21st of Feb for our first general meeting!

Chess - Attention all CHESS enthusiasts! Our Chess Club is starting on Friday, 24th of February, at lunchtime.
Come join us for some friendly games and sharpen your chess skills. The club is a superb extracurricular
opportunity open to all students, regardless of experience level. We will meet in M7 (Maths Department)
every Friday at lunchtime. See you there!

Ecorigami Club -  Hi everyone, we are excited to announce that Ecorigami Club is back for 2023! ‘Ecorigami’
is the combination of ‘eco’ and ‘origami’, hence our club’s mission is to explore origami while protecting
the environment. We will be having an introductory meeting Wednesday (22nd of Feb) lunchtime in C1. All
are welcome to learn more about our club and get a sense of what activities we do. Hope to see you all
there!

Anime Club - Anime club resumes on Friday lunchtime (24 February) in A8. If you are interested in joining,
please sign up to the google classroom using your home email (classroom code m4gtmlh) and complete
the google form by Thursday 23 February.

Student Librarians - Applications for Student Librarians are now open.  This year we have some spaces for
seniors. If this sounds like something you would be interested in please email library@rangitoto.school.nz
for more information and an application form. Applications close 27th February.

Library - Self check out kiosk now available in the library! Bring your ID card so you can check out your
books. Avoid the queues.

Chinese Night Auditions - Hey Everyone! The meeting for auditioning for Chinese Night will be coming up
on the 22nd of Feb (Wednesday) in A7. We will be giving out information on the auditions and what
performers should expect. The auditions will be held sometime between week 6 - 7 and will be live and in
person. We hope to see you all there! If you have any problems, please contact Lucas Liu

The Rangitoto Reporter - AKA Journalism Club will have its first meeting next week Wednesday 22nd Feb
in E4 at lunchtime. We have a new google site and are always looking for students to write and contribute.
If you are interested in having a voice please come along. We are particularly looking for senior students
who might want an opportunity to build a leadership role from the ground up.

NZDF Base Visits


Are you interested in a career in the NZDF but would like to know more about what happens ‘inside the
wire’? Then register for one of our monthly base visits. During this tour you will meet with NZDF personnel,
get a chance to see some of our facilities and equipment in action and, can ask further questions to NZDF
Defence Careers recruiters onsite.  Please note: This is for Year 13 students and if you are Under 18 a
guardian will be required to attend with you.

Defensive Driving Course (Term 1)


This course is a fantastic opportunity to gain your full licence, reducing 6 months off your restricted licence
waiting time and learn invaluable skills, for example, recognising hazards, driving behaviour and attitude.
To attend this course, you must have your Restricted Licence. The course will run for 4 days after school, at
the Rangi Centre and an additional 40-minute practical on-road session, which will be organised with the
instructor. COURSES WILL RUN EACH TERM Cost is only $155 (The course is subsided by STAR SIC budget)

Leaders Application - Any Y12 students who are interested to be the leaders for the Ecorigami Club in 2023

You will have the opportunity to organise and assist with numerous activities throughout the year. It also
counts as a leadership activity on the student profile. We can’t wait to read all your applications! 

EVolocity - Are you an avid designer, builder, racer, or all three?


If this sounds like you, EVolocity might be your next extracurricular activity! EVolocity is a national
competition where secondary schools design, build, and then race electric vehicles. We are looking for 7
highly skilled Year 11 students; a photographer (preferably in a photography class this year); and a social
media manager who will form our undergraduate team for 2023. The positions we have available are
available to be viewed on the application form. If EVolocity sounds like something you are interested in

MUSIC
M U S I C   T U I T I O N S T A R T S T O D A Y !
Everyone enrolled in tuition (and their parent/guardian) was emailed on Saturday 18 Feb confirming
tuition details. Students please check the board in the MUSIC CORRIDOR for your tuition time (and keep
re-checking throughout the week as there are still changes being made to some timetables).

Guitarists: you must provide your OWN GUITAR for lessons (and your own lead if playing electric).
Drummers: you must bring your OWN DRUM STICKS to lessons.

USING one of the INSTRUMENT STOREROOMS? All instruments must have NAME TAGS (available at the
Music Office), and are left in the storeroom at your own risk. ALL INSTRUMENTS must be covered by your
own insurance.

Choir - Do you want to improve your singing, feel more confident, and make new friends? Come join a
choir! 
Our all-comers choirs are a friendly space for singers of all experience and ability levels. No experience
required - we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
The Minuettes is for female voices - come to our open rehearsal on Monday 20 February, 3:30 to 4:30 in
the Music Department.
Cambiata is for male voices - come to our open rehearsal on Thursday 23 February, 3:30 to 4:30 in the
Music Department.

SPORT
TAG - Final Senior Girls trials tomorrow morning Tuesday @ 7.15am on Field 2B. This includes junior
trialists who have received an invitation to trial.
SOCIAL TABLE TENNIS - On this Wednesday 22nd February in Gym 1 from 3.20 - 4.30pm.
All players welcome. Bring your own paddle if you have one.
