Vea, Members of the Board, our distinguished guests from CHED and DOST,
representatives of the Yuchengco group, our external partners and the members of the Mapua
Community.

A pleasant day to all of you.

My Father, the late Ambassador Alfonso Yuchengco emphasized the role of education as a
social equalizer and as a powerful tool in shaping the destiny of our nation.

Thus, as a step closer to this vision, the turn of the millennium signaled our family’s stewardship
to continue the Mapua tradition of academic excellence.

With all our efforts combined over the last 2 decades; we have produced these notable
milestones;

More than 400 board topnotchers in government licensure examinations, multiple CHED
Centers of Development and Excellence, 1 st ABET Accredited Institution in Southeast Asia and
our rise from an Institute to a fully autonomous University.

Aside from that, we have pioneered digital and online learning even prior to the pandemic,
we are certified and accredited by well-reputed local and international bodies.

The Mapua family experience grew bigger as we have geographically expanded our presence in
strategic parts of our country (Laguna and Davao) and the globe through fully online learning.

And now, we jubilate as one as we have joined the ranks of the world’s top universities through
the latest Times Higher Education-World University Rankings.

Amidst all these accomplishments and recognitions, the most important contribution we have
made is our role in the formation and growth of countless Mapua graduates who are imbued
with the values of Dedication, Excellence, Competence, Integrity and Relevance.

On behalf of the whole Yuchengco group, I express my utmost gratitude to our main steward
and the captain of the Ship, Dr. Rey B. Vea, the men and women of Mapua; our teacher
formators and our support staff for helping carry-out my father’s vision and for raising the bar
of academic excellence to global standards.

As your Chairperson, I can proudly say that Mapua’s success story is a combination of vision,
hard work and innovation. After all, the triumph of Mapua University is also the triumph of
Philippine Education.

Thank you so much, congratulations to everyone and let us continue do our share not only for
the glory of Mapua but more so for our Nation.
