STEEL DECKING
Galvanized Floor Deck

Roof Mart Structural Decking system

Roofmart structural decking system is an innovative high strength Zinc-coated steel decking system
design for use in the construction of composite floor slabs. It is specially develop for the Sri Lankan
construction industry and is one of the most economical structural decking in the country. Roofmart
floor deck is suitable for typical application as it provides widest cover per weight of steel and also
minimizes the requirement for reinforcement. It acts as a permanent formwork for a composite
concrete slab, which in it's assemble state can be used as a working platform as well as a formwork to
support wet concrete, contraction material and trades. When the concrete hardens, it acts as the
bottom tensile reinforcement.
Roofmart deck is a complete structural steel decking system for concrete, masonry and steel frame
construction and has an exceptional composite performance.

Designed to perfection
RMI structural decking system is an innovative 'W' profile structural decking system. Its brings great
economy and design freedom as it is precision engineered and provided ease of use as well as safety. RMI
deck system has excellent spanning capacities that ensure greater strength and less defection.

RMI Steel deck panel has a rib depth of 51mm and provides an effective cover width of 960mm as shown
in the figure in the below. Embossments on top of the flange provide excellent mechanical interlocking
between steel and concrete. In the assemble state, the profile compromises of intermediate male and
female rib for every interlocking side-lap joint.

Shear Studas (Steel headed stud anchor)

What is stud welding?

Stud welding is versatile, quickly and one step fastening system, since it was invented more than 60
years ago, the stud welding technology have constantly innovated and improved, now, it's widely used
in construction, industrial and automotive circle.

With the help of the electric arc as heat source the welding studs are welded on the metal surfaces.
There are two different types of stud welding methods for fixing welding studs. The capacitor discharge
(here after called CD) welding process and the drawn Arc (here after call DA) welding process see
following

Dimensions

Roofmart shear connector and DA welding studs correspond to standard of BS EN ISO 13918. For studs
dimensions please refer to the enclosed dimension tables. The length of shear connectors are stated as
length before welding since the burn off length after welding to bare metal welding through metal
deck, etc. the length of other DA type welding studs are stated as length after welding.

Stud material

Roofmart shear connector are made of quality low carbon steel, other type of welding studs are made of
strength class 4.8 steel or stainless steel A2 – 50/70, they have the following mechanical properties.

Surface treatment
Usually our DA welding studs will be supplied in plain condition; our appropriate package can provide
basic anti – rust requirement, phosphate plating is available for shear connectors upon request.

Thread
The threads of welding studs are cold rolled with tolerance limit 6g

Flux
All Roofmart shear connectors and drawn arc welding studs M8 and greater have a solid flux load
–appropriate aluminum ball insert into the center of the studs' tips. The appropriate high quality flux is
an essential factor for obtaining consistent welding quality.
Drawn arc welding studs

Shear connectors are typically used in composite steel construction to tie the concrete to steel
members and resist shear forces between the concrete slab and steel members. They are widely used in
steel building, bridges, etc. welding through metal deck are available for this stud, for this option,
special ceramic ferrule type UFT are recommended.

Eco Foil

Our brand of insulation foils, “ECO FOIL” is produced in-

house in our factory using the most modern technology.
We are able to produce “ECO FOIL” to suit customer
specifications and requirements.

Not only is ECO FOIL the best solution in making your

home thermally comfortable, it is made of
environmentally friendly recyclable products. It's long
lasting, non-hazardous and water-resistant qualities
make ECO FOIL the ideal insulation solution for your
home or industrial/commercial building.

We customize the product according to your requirements to provide you with the ideal eco friendly and
cost effective solution.

RMI ECO Foil insulation guidelines

1. Lay RMI eco foil over and across the purlins, making sure aluminum foil facing the roof sheets.
2. Attached one end of the foil to the top most purlin at the upper end of the roof by means of reverts
or self-tapping screws.
3. Use air gap tape lay over the RMI eco foil along the purlin to get a fine fixing effect and also to
create the air gap.
4. Gently pull tight from the lower end of the foil to avoid sagging and attached the foil to the next
purlin at the lower end.
5. This method should be continued till the foil reaches the last purlin at the lower end. (air gap tape
should fix along all the purlins)
6. Make sure the tension of RMI foil along the length is almost equal to ensure a better jointing
effect, which gives the fine finish and appearance to the insulation without sagging and opening
between seams.
7. After installing the first length of RMI eco foil, roofing sheets can be installed over the insulation as
per roofing sheets manufacturer's instructions.
8. Lay the second length of RMI eco foil sheet parallel to the first length making sure seam is joined
by the butt joint or overlap joint (about 50mm)
9. Butt jointing is recommended for thickness 8mm and above and overlap jointing is recommended
for thicknesses below 8mm.
10. Use Company recommended Aluminum self-adhesive tape for butt joint and double-sided
adhesive tape for lap joint.
11. Attached the second length of RMI eco foil sheet also to purlins by means of air gap tape and
reverts or self tapping screws.
Roofing Sheet
Importance of creating an Air Gap

RMI eco reflective insulation work best when there is at least 3mm
air gap between roofing material and the insulation. The gap
provides facility for radiation to take place. We supply air gap tape
with a thickness of about 3mm to lay along the length of the purlin

Our range of economical and eco-friendly bubble film is marketed under the name of “ECO ULTRA
BUBBLE & ECO EXTREME BUBBLE”.

In packaging, it is an excellent buffer material, which is very light and transparent, but has good shock-
absorbing qualities. It also reduces packing volume and therefore, packing costs as well.

As insulation, ECOBUBBLE is resistant to water, moisture, heat, alkali and most chemicals. It is even used
as an insulated cover for swimming pools.

ECOBUBBLE can be varied to include other prints and laminating as well. Contact us with your
specifications and we will produce it for you.

Steel is the cost-effective and environmentally sound
alternative to any other construction materials, structures are
usually constructed much faster than using other materials;
the costs are usually lower compared to traditional building
methods, lighter weights, easier to maintain, reduced risk of fire and BUILDING SYSTEMS
steel is 66% recyclable. Above all, strength is a major plus for
steel. Steel structures can withstand unfavorable weather
conditions such as hurricanes, high winds, heavy snow, What We Do,
Tsunami and even earthquakes. They are also resistant to Design, fabricate and install all kinds of steel structures
termites, creeping, cracks, splitting and rotting, thus
to international structural steel design standards.
increasing durability.

Steel construction is becoming most popular nowadays. The Industrial & Commercial Structures :
developed countries like America and United Kingdom are
using more 80% steel structures in their construction field Ware Houses
while the developing country like Sri Lanka only using 10%-15% Factories

Advantages of RMI Steel

All range of steel structures from domestic to industrial and commercial.

In-house design capabilities for effective and flexible design needs.
RMI Steel holds a large stock of raw materials and fabricated steel components,
which enable the production division to commence once the customer has approved the
drawings.
Design changes can be accommodated even after the order is placed with us.
Design changes can be negotiated while the building is in production
Step-wise collection of building components can be organized to coincide with the
construction schedule of the Civil Contractor
Engineering guidance will be provided from start to complete the project as a project
management
As the engineering records and Project details are maintained at RMI Steel, future
extensions and modifications could be accommodated easily.
