A large amount of research has been carried out

on direct, indirect and mixed solar drying to

replace traditional systems and improve their
efficiency. Kiebling . cited several different types
of solar dryers, their configurations, capacities,
dried products and costs. Fuller and Ekechukwa
and al reviewed several solar dryers and
compared their performance and applicability in
rural areas. Most of the solar dryers developed
are intended for specific products or a class of
products, such as chilli, onion, radish, ginger,
apple, pineapple, grape, plum, longane which are
often dried in Asia so in this part we will explain
what the solar dryer is and what is your
classification
Description of a solar dryer
The solar dryer is a construction that captures the
sun’s rays to dry food placed inside. It allows us as
the dehydrator to dry all fruits, vegetables, herbs,
fish and meats. It is often built in wood with a
glass plate that serves to reproduce a greenhouse
effect inside the dryer.
The solar dryer has significant potential in the
agricultural sector, where it is used for drying
vegetables, fruits and medicinal plants. Thus
minimizing dependence on sun drying and
industrial drying, thus saving huge quantities of
fossils

Classification of types of solar dryer

Solar dryers are generally classified according to

the mode of heating ormode of operation in
several categories:
• Direct solar dryers.
• Indirect solar dryers.
• Hybrid solar dryers.
• Mixed solar dryers.
