CKAT reported: PC candidate Vic Fedeli: He says there wouldnt have been a tax increase with more provincial funding support and he makes the pledge that they will not raise taxes. THE FACTS: Every year he was Mayor, Vic Fedeli did raise taxes. The previous Conservative government downloaded services and costs to municipalities. Over the last eight years the Liberal government has uploaded services and costs to municipalities. When the uploading is fully implemented in 2018 North Bay will benefit from over $4.8 million in savings. This includes the upload of court security which the Hudak PCs will not complete. The Ontario Liberal government has invested over $190 million in the City of North Bay over the last eight years. In addition to the over $16 million the City receives annually from the province for operations, over the last seven years the City of North Bay has received over $7 millions in gas tax funding to assist with public transit and funded the construction of the new Oak Street Transit Terminal.
The Liberal Government has demonstrated an unprecedented commitment to the City of North Bay. In the last eight years these funds have been invested in: The North Bay Waterfront (over $7 million) renovations to the recycling centre ($900 000) Trout Lake road reconstruction ($1.3 million) Algonquin Ave reconstruction ($4.6 million) Oak St reconstruction ($2.3 million) Champlain Park revitalization a new electric substation to support Fabrene new transit buses The Airport business park ($2 million) The New water treatment plan ($19 million) Infrastructure funding (roads, bridges, sewer, water) ($11.5 million) The Steve Omischl Sports Complex ($4 million) Social housing (170 units) over $5.5. million Installation of water meters ($2.3 million) Immigration attraction programs Support for additional police officers ( over $1.2 million)
Among many other projects. Get your facts straight, Vic. For more information contact: Keith Pacey 705 474 0468
