Central Questions in Ethics

1.Are there any differences between moral laws and society’s laws? If there are, why is this?
The main difference between law and morality is that law refers to the rules and regulations
enforced by the state to regulate human behavior in society, and morality refers to the ethical
code of conduct of human beings in other words it looks like the separation of the church and
state, but the situation is different.
2.What are human beings really like: selfish and greedy or generous and kind?
People have different perspectives same with the characteristics, they are people who chooses
to be kind instead of being rude, sometimes people are selfish and other won’t, but it will
always depend on them on how they in every situation because they have rights to do so, we all
have preferences, freedom to choose in every situation.
3.Are some people better at “morality” than others, or is everyone equally capable of doing
good?
4.Are there good ways of teaching children to behave morally?
5.Does anyone have the right to tell anyone else what goodness and wickedness are?
Everyone has their different own experience and environment, there are factors that affect a
one’s mind to differentiate what is goodness and wickedness, people undergo through different
scenarios in life, there is a always a reason why they are living with that, then for me we don’t
have the rights to tell anybody that they are wrong and right, we need to put ourself in their
position before we conclude or judge.
6.Are there certain kinds of acts that are always wrong?
7.What do you think is the best answer to the question “why should I be a good person”?
I think the best answer in this question is that we want to live in a world where negativity is not
existed same with war, violence, and abuse. We want peace, love and positivity that creates
harmony, if everyone is doing this, choosing to be a good person in every situation in life it will
create a long-term happiness, a permanent one. We want to be a good person because we
want a peaceful and happy life.
8.Is morality about obeying a set of rules or is it thinking carefully about consequences?
9.Is ethics a special kind of knowledge? If so, what sort of knowledge is it and how do we get
hold of it?
10.When people say that “I know murder is wrong”, do they know it is wrong or just believe it
very strongly?
