UC Santa Cruz
The University of California Santa Cruz is located in the city of Santa Cruz in California
just south of Sanfrancisco. The overall cost and expenses include multiple parts. For example,
this includes the application fee, the tuition fee, and the cost of living on campus. For starters, the
application fee is 70$ which is about average for many of these Universities. The tuition fee for
the fall, winter, and spring terms is estimated to be 14,070 but this could change based on a
number of factors. The cost of living on campus is $17,463. Though these costs may seem like
much for a student, UCSC does provide different types of financial help (financial aid and
scholarships). UCSC provides FAFSA, grants, and scholarships for students who need them and
they do their best at providing them to over half that apply. It is recorded that 67% of the 17,792
students are given some sort of financial aid or grant. Overall, this is a great help provided by the
school to help its students further their education in a way that doesn't make their economic
UCSC has an acceptance rate of about 47.7% which does make it a bit of a harder school
to get into, however with the pandemic and the current situation, the requirements to get in have
been less demanding (requirements). The current requirements to simply apply include the
personal statement/essay part, the completion of 15 year-long academic courses with a 3.40 GPA,
and A-g subject requirements. However, as seen, this does not include SAT, ACT, or CAT tests,

this is because of the pandemic and the fact that many schools have stopped requiring these tests
or made them optional (admissions). Some other things that the school takes in mind are the
weight as well as the unweighted GPA of the student. A weighted GPA is the student's GPA
considering AP classes and how hard each class is, which means rather than being out of 4.0 it is
out of a 5.0 point system. An unweighted GPA is when the GPA of the student is calculated
through only a 4.0 point system. All in all, the requirements necessary to apply to UCSC include
the average things that most universities look for as well as keep it a fair application process for
UCSC has some PHD programs, one of them being the PhD in history. UCSC also has
one of the best freshmen retention rates. With 88% of students staying for a second year.
Retention rate is an important metric that calculates the percentage of users who continue using
your product or service over a given time period. The admission rate of UCSC is 64.7%.
Admission rate is the people who are able to join or enter this college. Graduation rate at UCSC
UCSC is also known for their sports. The sports that are mostly known at UCSC are
women's volleyball, women's soccer, women's cross country, men's cross country and men's
swimming. UCSC is known for winning the conference championship 2019-2020. Something
you probably didn't know about UCSC is that their mascot is a yellow slug named sammy. Also
UCSC has been around for 57 years, founded by Clark Kerr during 1958-1967. Some traditions
that UCSC have is the first rain run, April 20th and climbing tree 9. In the first rain run students
gather in the porter college quad and run without clothing. Climbing tree 9 is when students and
others climb trees leaving items from notes to wool, knitted around branches.

In conclusion, we believe that the university of UCSC is a great option for those in
California looking for a wide set of majors, a fun time, and is relatively affordable for everything
that is provided by this university. The majors provided include a variety of fields such as very
fun and adventurous fields like theater but also many sciences like neuroscience. This makes the
school very comprehensive and all around complete. This university also provides the students
with a fun time by taking part in many traditions and celebrations that have been around for
years which is in our opinion a great way to interact with students and have students interact with
each other. UCSC overall is a choice we recommend for those in the area looking for an
