Part 2: Reading Comprehension

Mountains

A mountain is a giant rock. It sticks out above the ground.

They can be found on land and under the sea.

Mountains are formed when the different parts of the

ground move against each other.

One of the most famous ranges is called the Himalayas.

Mount Everest is in the Himalayas and it is the highest mountain in the world.

At the bottom of the mountains, you might find

grasslands and forests.

As you move up the mountains, the plants and animals

may slowly disappear. The weather may become colder

at the top of the mountains.

Animals like mountain goats, birds and snow leopards

live in the trees and in the caves of the mountains.
