Physical nd chemical changes

Physical change : reversible/convertible

A change in which no new substance is formed and which can generally be reversed by
reversing the condition is phy change
Eg : water nd ice

Chemical change: irreversible

A change in which new substance js formed and which cant be reversed by reversing
the condition is chem change
Eg: paper fire nd ash

Changes in state:
3 state : solid liquid gaseous

Solid to liq to gas

Solid to gas : eg: naphthalene balls

Sublimation: some solids form vapours directly on being heated. Thats known as
sublimation.
Eg: naphthalene balls

Melting: when solid forms a liquid on being heated , thats known as melting.

Freezing: when a liquid forms solid product on being cooled.

Vaporisation : liquid to gas conversion

Condensation: gas to liquid conversion

Eg: ice nd water

Chemcial changes:

1. Burning of fuels
2. Rusting (prevention : galvanisation(paint))
3. Cooking of food ( દાળ , cooked vegetables)
4. Curdling of milk

Physical nd chemical change can take place together:

Example : candle

Melting of wax and solidification of molten wax are physical changes

Burning of molten wax is chemical change.

Physical Chemical
Temporary Permanent
Reversible Irreversible
No new substance is formed New substance formed
