    (A)Read the chapter ‘Feminine and Masculine’ (pp. 221-262) from James H. Rubin
    Impressionism (1999), which is uploaded on moodle, and answer the following questions in a
    text of 800 words.

    1. Who are the women painters associated with Impressionism?


    2. What is it that distinguishes their work (please discuss using specific examples of
    works).
    3. Can we support that their work is different from the work of male Impressionist
    painters?
    4. What kind of challenges did they have to face as women artists working in Paris
    towards the end of the 19th century? And how have these challenges shaped the
    outcome of their work?

    (B) Read the introduction from Whitney Chadwick’s Women, Art, and Society (2012) as well
    as Linda Nochlin’s essay “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” (1971)
    (uploaded on moodle) and answer the following question in 800 words:
