The

environmental conditions in poor countries are severely harmed by solid waste dumps.
In this developing world, inappropriate solid waste disposal negatively influences the
environment all around the world.
Bangladesh's solid waste management situation is getting worse every day due to a
lack of effective planning and financing.
A municipal solid waste landfill (MSWLF) is a discrete area of land or excavation that receives
household waste. An MSWLF might receive other types of nonhazardous wastes, such as
commercial solid waste. A landfill is harmful to the environment. The reasons are:
1. Landfill can cause climate change
2. They can cause fires or explosions
3. Landfills reduce the value of the surrounding areas.
In addition to causing disease, odor, and unpleasant landscapes, solid waste can seriously
harm the environment by contaminating the soil, water, and air jeopardizing the health of people
and other living things. The danger of the waste’s various components may differ based on the
nature of the waste.
Ineffective waste management directly impacts our ecosystems and the species around them.
This solid waste causes greenhouse gas emissions which lead to severe air pollution and climate
change.
In the hierarchy of waste management, landfills are the final resort. They release methane, a
powerful greenhouse gas associated with climate change. Methane is produced by
microorganisms in landfills from biodegradable waste, such as food, paper, and garden waste.
Depending on how they are constructed and used, they can contaminate the soil and water.
