Abstract
The motivation for academic achievement is a topic that is especially at the present moment in the
interest of all countries in the world, and every year a large amount of state funding is spent on
educating children and adolescents. In this regard, the purpose of this study was to predict the
motivation of academic achievement based on parenting styles and attachment in first grade
students. The present study is descriptive and correlational. The statistical population of this
research is all the first and second grade students of Rasht primary school in the academic year
2018-2019. Of these, 260 students were selected as available. To collecting data the questionnaires
motivation of academic achievement, parent-child conflict and emotional intelligence shot. were
used and data analyzed by SPSS-24 software. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation
coefficient and multiple regression analysis. The results showed that parenting styles and
attachment had a significant relationship with motivation of academic achievement (P<0.01). Beta
coefficients of predictive variables showed that parenting styles and attachment had a significant
predictive value of the criterion variable, motivation of academic achievement (P<0.05). The
results also showed that parenting styles and attachment predict a significant degree of variance in
motivation of academic achievement. The results of the research indicate that, the higher the level
of effective parenting styles and safe attachment, the student's motivation for academic
achievement is significantly increased.
