    This standard was first published in 1968 and revised in 1974 with a view to providing an objective and rational sampling procedure for steel pipes, TUBES AND FITTINGS. As a result of the implementation of the standard more emphasis has now been laid in the revised version on process control. A recommended frequency of testing and inspection is, however, given in Annex A to serve as a guide to the manufacturers.
