Introduction
• Beekeeping is one such industry embedded with a tinge of creativity
• In Sri Lanka beekeeping holds a prominent place specially in the wet
zone
• Annually 60 – 70 tons of honey are imported to Sri Lanka
• Collecting and gather honey, sell bees, royal jelly, bees' wax,
propolis, pollen, venom and other bee products

local honey, beeswax candles, and other
apiculture-related products to consumers by
combining modern beekeeping methods with

• Reducing operational expenses by 40% within 4
years of starting the business
• To diversify in to other hive products

• The competition for beekeeping industry in Badulla district is
slightly low
•There are about 3 to 4 competitors
•Most of them sell their honey with in village
• Towns in other provinces are not much targeted by them.

• My own vehicle will used to deliver the
products to markets in Badulla,
Bandarawela, Diyathalawa and Welimada
areas.
• Retail & Direct distribution channels will be
used to transport the goods to the market.

• For this purpose, 80 wooden boxes are needed

• To maintain the required quality of bee colonies,


following equipment's are needed.
– 80 wooden boxes
– Smokers
– Honey extractors
– Bee-vail
Location
• Size of the land is 1 acre and it has many
flowering plants, mustard plants and some fruit
plants to attract bees.

• The garden will be maintained with a lot of


flowering plants as it is the main factor which
contributes to the production of honey by honey
bees
