Flow measurement

 Purpose
Measure liquid flow using volume scale

 Introduction
Accurate measurement of flow rate of liquids and gases is an
essential requirement for maintaining the quality of industrial
processes. In fact, most of the industrial control loops control the
flow rates of incoming liquids or gases in order to achieve the
control objective. As a result, accurate measurement of flow rate
is very important.

Q = V t , where V is the volume and t is the elapsed time. The SI unit for flow rate is m3/s,

 Procedure
1. We make shore that there is water in the hydraulic bench
2. We open the flow control to let the water go to the
volumetric measuring tank
3. We close the hole in the tank so that water stay in the tank
4. Volume scale will measure the volume of water as it gets
higher and we measure the time of the volume by a stop
watch
 Calculation
 The advantage of each part of the complete system

1. Measurement tank :to measure our liquid in it

2. Volume scale :to measure liquid volume in liter
3. Control valve :to control liquid flow amount
4. Stop clock :to calculate the time in second
5. Inlet :to let the water in
6. Outlet :to let the water out

 All names plates that gives performance of the apparatus

1. Volume scale
2. Measurement tank
3. Pump switch
4. Control valve
5. Plug and sink
6. Upper tank of the bench

Hydraulic bench
7. Sliding valve
8. Sump
9. Drain cock
10. Submersible motor driven pump
11. Water supply for accessories with pump
12. Flow control valve
13. Over flow pipe
14. Switch box
 Practical application of volume scale
 Bottoms Up. One of the main ways volume is used daily is when
calculating drinking amounts. ...
 Fueling Up. When you fill up your vehicle, the volume of gasoline
your gas tank holds determines your purchase. ...
