Group Assignment 2

Wedding Event at Shangri-La Hotel

Shoplifting and employee theft are common in retail stores, event site and numerous
incidents can add up to serious losses. Fires and explosions are hazards at a chemical
plant; even one incident can be financially devastating. The frequency of shoplifting
and employee theft incidents at a retail store and event site will likely be greater than
the frequency of fires and explosions at a chemical plant. However, it is impossible to
pinpoint accurately when, where, and how many times losses will occur.

Based on a Wedding Event at Shangri-La Hotel, evaluate and identify risks as well as
begin planning to select and implement security and loss prevention strategies.

1. Understand the organization and identify the people and assets at risk.
2. Specify loss risk event/vulnerabilities. Each site often has a unique history of
losses and unique weaknesses.
3. Determine the impact of the events. This includes the cost of losses from
tangible or intangible assets.
4. Develop options to mitigate risks.
