21 April 2023 Circular (Classes VI to VIII)

Dear Parent

The school promotes holistic development of the child. Staying updated with the
happenings across the globe is an important aspect of personality development. To become
‘a school that reads’ is the school’s vision for the session 2023-24. Newspaper reading is a
step in this direction.

In this earnest attempt to inculcate a regular reading habit, the school will hold weekly
General Awareness tests for Classes VI-VIII These tests will commence from Wednesday,
26 April 2023 and will be conducted along with the weekly Unit Tests. The General
awareness test will have 5 questions of 1 mark each.

The first test scheduled for 26 April 2023 will have five questions from the General
Knowledge text book only-

Class VI- pages-2,3

Class VII- pages-1,2
Class VIII- pages-4,5

The subsequent tests starting from 3 May 2023 will include five questions on general
awareness and current affairs. Details of the same will be intimated later along with the Unit
Test Syllabus.

The students must be motivated to read encouraging, uplifting and positive news about
discoveries and innovations, important public figures, editorials, sports etc.
They must be updated about happenings around the world to understand the impact of
human activities on our planet including physical and biological phenomena.

Kindly take note of the sample questions-

1. Which state is known for the ‘Char Dham’ Yatra?

2. Name the External Affairs Minister of India.
3. Name the present Chief Justice of India.
4. Which country won the FIFA World cup 2022?
5. A comet visited after a period of 50000 years in March 2023. What is it popularly known
as?

Parents are requested to actively guide their wards and encourage them to regularly update
themselves by reading Newspapers/ watching News on TV and discussing relevant
information in order to make this endeavour a success.
