How would you use your degree to make a positive impact?

With MSc. Management degree & the expertise that comes along with it, I aim to work with
the consultancy wing of NITI Aayog to craft a more economically inclusive India, where
people from all economic backgrounds can have knowledge about the benefits of old as well
as old policies and reforms. As per the national Database, in India only about 43% of the
entire population are aware of the government schemes and policies from which they can
benefit immensely. I will use my degree to increase this gap between the policy makers and
the billions of benefactors and especially make sure that the weaker sections of the country
have understanding of the new policies. I plan to achieve this by working with the Indian
government to make strategic policies that will benefit each and every citizen. The reach and
educating the masses can be made possible using government media platforms like
SWAYAM, National Repository of Open Educational Resources (NROER), DIKSHA, e-
Pathshala, SWAYAM PRABHA and more, which are growing at an exponential rate in India
and have been working towards imparting education.

I believe economic inclusion is necessary to economically liberate the Indian population
suffering as victims of economic uncertainty like price fluctuations & inflation. Furthermore,
taking inspiration from the economic research of Prof. Cloda Jenkins focusing on economics
and public policy design, I am certain the degree at Imperial will shape my endeavours
feasibly and holistically.

I have always had a keen interest in solving social problems like child trafficking and human
exploitation because millions are affected in countries like India, Nepal and many more. In
2020, I worked with Anuradha Koirala, who is the founder of Maiti Foundation, in
Kathmandu, Nepal was one of the most inspiring and emotive experiences of my life. Her
fight against child trafficking, movement against human exploitation and women
empowerment are legendary tales. Motivated to contribute my bit to fight against human
exploitation, I took up a project with the help of my mentors. One of the patron who helped
us financially was Project Nepal an initiative of Imperial College Project.

I successfully convinced a few likeminded friends and family to either volunteer or donate to
the project. Through Maiti Foundation, I coordinated with their team and identified the
locations and susceptible people involved in such egregious act of human exploitation. I
worked closely with government officers and bureaucrats to make sure that we can save more
children in short span of time. I convinced them by through data-backed arguments, and
paying deference to them and building rapport. We could save only 178 out of 236 lives. I
learned to face failure through this as not all life could be saved from child trafficking. From
sitting in air-conditioned offices to spending days under the hot sun, I transformed into a
more astute professional, elevating my communication and leadership skills.
