Industrial/Organizational Psychology Prelim Activity

Points to Ponder
1. Why do you think that the most popular model in learning IOP is the scientist-
practitioner model?

I think the reason why Scientist-Practitioner Model is the most popular model in
learning IOP is because nowadays everyone relies to scientific facts. As we all know,
scientist-practitioner model helps students to learn how to integrate science and provide
the basis for the professional practice. In addition, this training or professional practice is
a must and will be beneficial for the students when they graduate and work for the field
they want, particularly psychological.

2. Among the six fields of IOP, which interest you the most? Why?

Among the six fields of IOP, selection and placement interest me the most
because I think this field is the most fundamental of all. Aside from the fact that it
involved studying jobs, it is also concerned with placement of employees in the job they
are most compatible with. And for me, selecting the right employee and placing them in
the right job will make them more productive, which is beneficial to the company they
are working with.

3. Which field do you think should be the focus of each of the work settings for IO
psychologists?

I think the field that should be the focus of each of the work settings for I/O
psychologists is training and development. For me, every employee has potential or skills
but some of them needed to be enhance in order to improve employees job performance.
And improving employees performance is equivalent to increasing work settings
development.
