SA-SAMS – Term 2 & 3 (Presentation)

1. The school must ensure that SA SAMS Programme is Patched with Version 20.0.0

2. The SMT must encourage all educators, to Validate Programme of Assessment for all
subjects in the school and revise default dates on SA SAMS, Module 12.3.11 to avoid
using incorrect mark sheets to record learner marks. which in turn will result in incorrect
calculations of the learner’s final marks.

3. ALL Heads of Department are urged to select and Link the Task to at least one accurate
topic as outlined in different CAPS Policy documents for all the subjects on SA SAMS,
Module 12.3.11 before clicking SAVE button. Where possible the educator must be
discouraged from selecting the primary topic, but should rather identify the relevant sub-
topics that the assessment actually covers. This provides a much clearer picture, to the
teacher and HOD, of the topics actually covered. This applies to all subjects and all grades.

4. The SMT should ensure that all Term 3 SA SAMS Working Mark Sheets from Module
12.3.12, are printed out for recording and capturing marks after validation and revision of
default assessment. Selection of correct topics should be concluded by all SMT members, to
avoid recording irregularities and errors.

5. The SMT should ensure that the school develops a working management plan that
includes dates for:
• Marking all SBA,
• Recording of SBA,
• Moderation of SBA against recorded marks
• Capturing of moderated marks, and
• Verification of captured marks.

6. The SMT should ensure that all educators quality assure captured marks, as well as the
final calculated mark prior to SMT verification.
This presentation serves to inform schools that Maintaining processes on SA
SAMS MODULE 12.7.16.1; 12.7.16.3 and 12.7.18 must be concluded in all
Grades. Maintaining processes prepare for the End-of-Year SBA, promotion
and analysis schedules.

7. SA SAMS Module 12.7.6. (Maintain Learner Report Cycle Results) Prepares the marks
and comments that should be printed on the Learner’s Report Cards
SA SAMS Module 12.7.6.1 (Maintain Learner Cycle Progress Results per
Topics/Skills) Prepares the comments that should be printed on the Learner’s
Report Cards
8. SA SAMS Module 12.7.6.3 (Maintain Learner Cycle Progress Results) Prepares the
analyse performance in a specific topic or skill that should be printed on the Learner’s
Report Cards
9. SA SAMS Module 12.7.8 (Maintain Learner Promotion Decision and General Report

ANNEXURE B: SUMMARY TABLES ON ASSESSMENT FOR THE GET

14.1 In response to the COVID–19 review the following principles should be applied for capturing
of marks:
a) All term 1 SBA marks must be captured.
a) The 2020 June Examinations are excluded across all Grades (4–9) from SBA and
a code of “- 1” to be captured for all learners.
A code of “-1” to be captured for original CAPS tasks that were not to be administered in 2020.

b) SA–SAMS version 20.0.0 will be issued to schools, and it will make provision for
changes in the “fixed” assessment totals, adjusted weights and a function to add “-1”
to a whole group of learners.
