Filipino: Hi po!
The filipino tries to mano the old lady
Lady: Why did you do that?
Filipino: Oh, its part of our culture to mano people older than us as a show of respect
Lady: Oh, can you tell me more about your culture?
The lady’s daughter walks by
Daughter: Mom let's go home, and who is that you're talking to?
Lady: Oh, this person is filipino! Im asking them about their culture
Daughter is visibly shaken
Daughter: Mom we need to go
Lady: Ok but can I talk with my new friend first?
Daughter: NO! These people are dirty, they're only talking to you because they want to steal!
Filipino: What? No! You're stereotyping my culture!
Daughter: Stereotyping? I've heard all about your kind, always committing crimes and stealing
from Americans like us because you think we're rich, and you're trying to do it to my mother? A
poor old lady? Disgusting.
Filipino: No, I was just talking to her innocently in the park, I wasn't trying to steal or anything.
Lady: Yes, he/she wasn't trying to steal from me! All my things are still here in my purse!
Daughter: Mother lets go!..
The lady and the mother walks away leaving the filipino alone there, the filipino feels sad that he
can be accused of doing such things just because of his culture, his race and his appearance.

Everyday, different races from different backgrounds get discriminated at for the most miniscule
of reasons, maybe its because of their accents, traditions, or maybe even appearance. They get
stereotyped just because of the vague negative videos of them that spread across media, we
need to stop discriminating races, stop being naive, stop being arrogant, and treat these human
beings the respect they deserve.

basis of their membership in a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or
marginalized.

most of the time the eastern counties are the ones generalizing westerners, common stereotypes
include boastful, arrogant, disrespectful to authority, loud and obnoxious, racist and wealthy.
