Title: Supply Chain Management and Logistics
Speaker/Company Name: Ms. Joanna Malinao/Maersk-Damco

Introduction:

The term "supply chain management" refers to the

processes that convert raw materials into finished goods and deliver

them to customers, whereas the term "logistics" focuses on the

transportation and storage of items in the supply chain and gives

immediate feedback on customer demand. They are putting more effort

into enhancing supply chain operations, which can be beneficial to

clients and business partners (Lummus, 2001).

"Supply chain management integrates the field of

logistics, and logistics is a variety of separate processes within

supply chain management," writes Michael Kirby (2018). While meeting

customer needs is the primary goal of logistics, gaining a

competitive advantage is the primary goal of supply chain

management. Malinao (2023) stated that in order to get products to

consumers, supply chain management uses logistics, but its ultimate

goals are to raise profits and provide a company with a competitive

advantage. These procedures keep track of and plan the efficient and

economical flow of goods and services, which is essential to an

organization's success. The phrases should not be used

interchangeably, but they do complement one another, which is

crucial to keep in mind. Without the other, one procedure is

impossible to have.

Implications:

This topic highlighted concepts for me and provided me

with the opportunity to hone a variety of skills, including

forecasting, management, and process improvement. It also enables me

to learn about various firms' efficient procedures from various

industries as a student of office administration.

Recommendations:

I appreciate the speaker’s effort to explain the company she

works in. All in all, she explained her topic accurately and precisely.
