Technology, these days, is developing our everyday life fast enough to make each year special all

by the development it has come to face. This speed of development has caused our own daily life rules
and knowledge to evolve day after day. And one of the most famous aspects of the new evolved life is a
new way for people to work, remotely, known under the name of Teleworking. Therefore, some
questions are bound to be answered:

What is Teleworking? How can it benefit our daily life? And what possible inconveniences is it
able to bring to our old life style?

To discuss the subject of teleworking, we first need to define the word. Teleworking, also known
as remote work or telecommuting, is a flexible work arrangement in which employees can work from a
location outside of the traditional office environment. The advancement of technology, and more
precisely the internet and video conferencing, has made it possible for both the employers and the
employees to work remotely and more flexibly. This in other words was the key to breaking the
traditional office work.

This leads us to the first and most convincing point for choosing “Teleworking”, which is none
other than “Flexibility”. The access to the internet is the only requirement for this type of work, it means
that as long as you have access to the internet, you can be wherever you like to be, all that matters is
your work being delivered. In fact, some business owners tend to use online tools to access there
business and there team, and using those same tools, their whole business is working just fine. To give
an example of that, drop shipping is a type of e-commerce; it’s used to provide a seller’s product to a
client. In other words, with enough money to start, you can buy a certain product from some seller, and
then sell it yourself to a client that wants to buy it; the price is obviously higher, but it depends on your
ability to market this product so that people buy it from you. This kind of re-selling products can be done
using just a laptop, and online sellers have used it for a while now.

Another aspect of “Teleworking” is the “Improved work-life balance”, it’s, in other words, the
balance that makes a lot of office workers tend to leave their office jobs to look for it, that or complain
about the stress the said ‘office’ cause on their personal life. The time to spend with one’s family and to
be able to do one’s work without pressure has made people able to give more results. To better
understand this aspect, we might need to know about “Freelancing”. Freelancing is a term used for
people able to provide certain skills, without working in any formal office, or in a simpler way, it’s a one
job contract between a service provider and a client in need for that service. More and more office
workers are leaving their jobs these days, and the reason behind that is none other than the opportunity
of freelancing, they are more inclined to work at home with one, two or even three clients, as much as
they feel comfortable, providing the work in time without being pressured by time, waking up early in
the morning, or even caring for the transport to the said office. Another positive aspect of freelancing is
that some freelancers found themselves able to work with multiple clients, and that in return mad them
able to provide more revenue through their new clients, making this kind of “Teleworking” the best
possible type of work they’d wish for
These may be good examples favoring the “Teleworking”, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a
perfect choice, choosing to work remotely from home can be the equivalent of throwing away the
traditional office work, and that might have inconveniences for certain individuals.

The most basic aspect of that is social isolation, and the reason behind this one is that working
remotely limits interactions with colleagues; this might be a problem, especially for extroverted
individuals, people who thrive on social connections. A simple example of that, is a situation where those
said colleagues happen to also be friends, and greeting each other daily might turn into a habit, chatting
with each other and telling jokes etc., giving up on all of that might be a hard choice for certain types of
people, especially those that like to interact a lot.

The second, but most problematic inconvenience is the lack of supervision. For those who lack
time management and similar soft skills, working remotely from home might turn into a challenge more
of it than an assuring situation, for those kinds of people, being under pressure is a positive thing it’s a
way to assure they meet certain goal, and teleworking will save them from that pressure. Aside from
that, when put in such a situation, managers tend to hear many complaints from higher ups, and are
doubted in their own ability to manage their employees. Let’s give in a real life example, an employee,
working remotely from home, will have to for example, sell a set number of products, not meeting the
quota will be hard. I t means that his manager will not put as much trust in him as he did prior to that,
and it also means that the company’s teleworking strategy should be revised, and besides that, the
number of products sold doesn’t match the number of products that were meant to be sold, and this
one hurts the whole company.

All in all, Teleworking is a new type of work created by the development of human technology,
but even as an opportunity there are some requirements to properly use it, and without those said
requirements, this opportunity might bring more bad than good, and for so people need to be worthy of
taking advantage of this opportunity or get ready before they do.
