Description of the tests 1.1 Lightning impulse voltage tests in dry condition [At first the 50% flashover voltage values of insulator string were determined with up and down test method, After the determination of 50% flashover voltages the withstand impulse voltage test was cartied out on the insulator string by a test voltage of 550kVjea with application of the correction factor. During the withstand test 15 positive impulses of 1.32/50.8 jis were applied ( shown in the attached oscillogram No.:3954). The test object shall withstand 15 impulses on each polarity without breakdown or with not more than ‘two flashovers according to referred standard. The test layout is shown in Fig.1 and on Photo 1 Ambient parameters: © Dry temperature 21.8°C ‘© Wet temperature: 98°C + Air pressure: 102.6 hPa ‘During the tests the correction factor was K=0,9399 1.2 Power frequency voltage test in dry and wet condition The test voltage is 230.0 KVinx in wet condition for 1 minute according to referred standard. Test voltage in dry condition for 1 minute is not described by the standard. The average flashover voltages of the insulator string were determined in dry and in wet condition too The average values were calculated from five measured flashover voltages. The specimen was pre wetted for 15 minutes before the wet test. The form of the artificial rain was drop. During the test the string was continuously wetted. During the tests the correction factor for dry test was K=1.009 and for wet test it was K=0,9493. The test object shall withstand the test voltage for 1 minute without breakdown and without flashovers. The test layout is shown in Figure 2 and on Photo 1. 1.3 Switching impulse voltage test in wet condition The switching impulse voltage test was carried out on the insulator string in wet condition in the indoor laboratory. The normal procedure for determining wet switching impulse withstand voltage on insulator string shall be by calculation from 50% flashover voltage level determined by the up and down method described in IEC 60060-1.The specimen was pre-wetted for 15 minutes before the wet test, The form of the artificial rain was drop. During the test the string was continuously wetted. During the test impulses of 235/3190 us were applied (are shown in the attached oscillogram No.:4057). The test layout is shown in Fig 1 Characterisation of the artificial rain * Vertical and horizontal component of the rain 1.5-1.8 mm/min © Specific resistance of water 9800 Qom © Direction of the rain to the insulator string ase Test Report VEIKE-VNL ELECTRIC LARGE LABORATORIES LTD. | No. 4293 / VNL 6/8 page 1.4 Corona inception/extinction voltage determination with power frequency yoltage in dry condition Detemmination of visible corona was performed in darkened laboratory with a photomultiplier camera. The corona inception and extinction voltage was determined three times by increasing and decreasing the test voltages step by step, then a mean value was calculated, The test arrangement is shown on Photo 2. 1.5 Radio interference voltage test The radio interference voltage on. the insulator string was tested in accordance with IEC 60437. The tests were carried out on 0.73 MHz .The condenser was Z,~ 10000 pF. The radio interference voltage should be expressed according to the standard referred as dB across a resistance of 300 omhs, therefore R=300 ohms was set on the coupling four pole, in this way a phase angle not exceeding 20" between Zs and R was fulfilled. In accordance with IEC 60437 the radio interference voltage was recorded in course of runs and was plotted versus the applied voltage: the curve obtained wes tae radio interference characteristic of the insulator string 2. Results of the tests 2.1 Lightning impulse voltage test in dry condition The single suspension insulator string installed with insulator passed the impulse voltage withstand test on +550kVpexe Without breakdown and without flashover. The 50% flashover voltage values were determined with method of up and down test The determined 50% flashover voltage values are: + 572.0 KV yout = TIO KV peat Calculated withstand voltages are: + 550.2 KV jeak = 703.0 KV pat 2.2 Power frequency voltage test in dry and wet condition During the withstand tests on suspension insulator string neither fashover nor breakdown occurred, therefore the insulator string met the requirements of power frequency test in dry and wet condition. The measured power frequeney voltages are In dry condition, Iminute without flashover: 230.0 KV ing In wet condition, Iminute without flashover: 230.0 Vw Average Hlashover voltage: In diy condition 354.4 KV Tn wet condition 321.0 Vine 2.3 Switching impulse voltage (est in wet condition The 50% flashover voltage values were determined with method of up and down test. The radio interference voltages are shown in Table 2 3. Uncertainty of measurements Uncertainty of the impulse voltage measurement: Uncertainty of the power frequency voltage measurement 40.5% of the measured value £1% of the measured value ‘The uncertainty values given in this report are the standard deviation values multiplied by k=2. Measurement uncertainty was estimated according to the method described in the EAL-R2 document. VEIKI-VNL ELECTRIC LARGE LABORATORIES LTD. | No, 4293 / VNL.
