Subject-Verb Agreement

Define subject-verb agreement: the definition of subject-verb agreement is the requirement

that a subject and verb of a clause must match in person and in number.

In summary, subjects and verbs should always have the appropriate agreement,
whether singular or plural.

While some can be tricky, it is unacceptable to match a singular subject with a plural verb
and vice versa.

Pointers to Note-

● Subject-Verb Agreement in Different Constructions

● Multiple subjects require plural verbs.
● With more than one singular subject connected by “Or”.
● Encourage students to “Spell out contractions to avoid confusion”.
● Sentences with There Are, There is, Here Are, Here is.
● Tricky words to determine agreement ...indefinite pronouns, collective nouns.

success. At my current job, the team always says that I am very helpful. Everyone
appreciates when I go the extra mile to get the job done right. My current employer and
coworkers feel that I am an asset to the team. I am efficient and organized. Are there any
