JOB INTERVIEW

D. Be Equipped With The Essential Techniques Necessary To Pass A Job
Interview
The interview process is a multi-stage process for HIRING
new employees. The interview process typically includes the
following steps:

Writing a job description;


Posting a job;
Scheduling interviews;
Conducting preliminary interviews;
Conducting in-person interviews;
Following up with candidates; and
Making a hire
Purposes of a Job Interview
Your capabilities,
Your present and future plans,
Your personality,
Your experiences,
Your credentials, etc.

Types of Job Interviews
Individual interview- one on one interview
Group Interviews- multiple candidates are being interviewed at
the same time and is often used if the company is hiring for
more than one position
Panel Interviews- you will be interviewed by multiple interviewers from the
same organisation and/or an external company. The goal of this type of
interview is to minimise the risk of a bad hire.
Video Interviews- these interviews are conducted when the
applicant and interviewer are separated by distance
Phone Interviews- Phone interviews can often be one of the first steps in
your interview process. More and more, companies are carrying out pre-
interview telephone screening before inviting the person for a face-to-face
interview, so it’s crucial you are fully prepared to speak over the phone
Job Interview Techniques
1. Research your prospective company

2. Update, print and photocopy your resume


3. Rehearse your answers to common interview questions

4. Dress properly
5. Bring a pen and a notebook

6. Be on time
7. Make a firm handshake

8. Smile
9. Accept that nervousness is normal

10. Be careful of bad habits (tapping your fingers, biting your nails,
playing with your hair, clicking your pen, etc.)
11. Maintain eye contact
12. Don’t give up
