A Matter of Psychology in Health

During the COVID-19 pandemic, around 70% of the world got sick because of the coronavirus. Among
them, my father was the one who was infected by that. He was a disabled person as he could not walk
or do anything for himself. However, he was a strong man before COVID-19 arrived. Unfortunately, we
did not have a chance to get vaccinated like other countries due to the political issues. He got some
treatments. Everybody thought that he seemed totally fine. However, after a month, he passed away
because some of his organs were already ruined by the virus. As far as I am concerned, not only was he
disabled, but also the virus was strong enough. On the other hand, he gave up on his hope of living
because he could not resist it anymore in pain. It is related to health psychology either way. Despite
having worse cases than before, he survived due to his high expectations for everything. He gave up on
living longer because of mental issues caused by politics and his environment.

Biopsychosocial aspects of the illness

The biopsychosocial model was developed by Engel (1977) and represents an attempt to integrate the
psychological (the "psycho") and the environmental (the "social") into the traditional biomedical (the
"bio") model of health". Biopsychosocial factors are involved in the proess of illness. The human body
must be accepted in terms of bio, psycho, and social factors. As viruses, bacteria, and genetics are
included in bio factors, behaviors, beliefs, stress, and pain are involved in the psycho aspects of health.
People who are depressed about their norms may become ill as a result of having social norms.
Therefore, each of the biopsychosocial factors may have contributed to the illness.

The beginning of the behavior

Behaviors are the actions of desire. Humans have uncountable wishes in order to be rich, pretty,
influential, reputably rich, etc. Daily health concerns such as smoking, exercise, and dieting are the
behaviors that come from those uncountable wishes. In my opinion, there are two kinds of behaviors in
humans that if a person is with consciousness, despite that person doing similar behaviors, there is
nothing to be concerned about illness. However, only a few people follow their consciousness.
Therefore, mortality can be high according to their behaviors such as over-dieting, exercise, etc. So, if all
of our behaviors are involved in the illness, how can you take action to benefit?
