L Loosen the bolt for the drive gear with a 5/16 inch
hex wrench until the bolt moves freely. Remove
drive shaft (17) and piston (14) from drive gear
(7) as a unit.

The drive shaft, the piston, and the drive gear are
under a sprinE force. Slowly release the spring
force before you remove these components.
6. Place Tooling (B) between drive gear (7) and lllustration 13 s01143104
piston (14). Use a suitable press to compress
the return spring. Remove retaining ring (15) 9. Remove bulkhead (18) from piston (14). Remove
that holds the drive shaft and the oiston in drive O-ring seals (19) from bulkhead (18)
housing (5).

2. Install a new O-ring seal on coolant temperature S/N: PESI-Up
sensor (1).

3. Install coolant temperature sensor (1) and tighten S/hl: FlXl-Up
to a torque of 20 t 5 N.m (15 t 4 lb ft).

4. Connect the harness assembly.
S/N: RTX'1-Up; R2A1-Up
5. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and
Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant R.emoval Procedq.rne
- Change".
