CHAPTER 4

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS, AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA

Introduction

This chapter contains the description of the respondents in terms of; reasons of

the students of their chosen course and; various factors that influence the decision making

of the graduating ABM students. The chapter features gathered data presented in a

tabular and pie graph presentation, analysis and interpretation of findings are based on the

results of the statistical treatment applied to the topic.

Profile of the Respondents

The population profile and the number of respondents of Grade 12 ABM

Students are presented in table 1. Out of 221 Grade 12 Accountancy, Business and

Management Students the researchers randomly selected 100 respondents or 45% of the

total population from the respective graduating ABM students in San Pedro College of

Business Administration A.Y. 2019-2020. The respondents are consist of 29 students or

80% of ABM 301, 18 students or 47% of ABM 302, 16 students or 44% of ABM 303,

none are from the ABM 304, 19 students or 50% are from ABM 305 and 18 students or

48% of ABM 306.

A total number of 100 Respondents are gathered from the population of Grade 12
ABM sections of San Pedro College of Business Administration’s Senior High school
department. From a total number of 221 students, which 53 are Boys and 168 are Girls.
The Respondents consist of 27 Boys and 73 Girls with a total number of 100
Respondents.

Out of 100 respondents, 76% of the samples have already decided for collegiate
degree, while 24% of the respondents are still undecided.

your course?

Out of 100 respondents, 15% of the samples are influenced by their friends on choosing

where university they will take for their collegiate degree, 38% are influenced by
their family, and 47% of the respondents have decided for themselves.

Figure 3 What are your considerations for choosing the right course for you?

Out of 100 respondents, 3% of the samples considered their family’s wishes in


choosing their degree, 20% of them have considered their financial capability, and 38%
have decided to follow their wants and passion, and 39% of the respondents considered
taking a collegiate course that has a greater job opportunity.

Figure 4 Do you seek advices from others?

Out of 100 respondents, 78% of the samples asked others for some advice
regarding their respective course, while 22% of the respondents follow their own
decision.

Out of 100 respondents, 73% of the samples chose the course that is related to
their strand, while 27% of the respondents chosen the course that is discrete to their
present strand.

Did the K-12 curriculum help you in choosing which course you
might take in college?

Out of 100 respondents, 79% of the samples believe that k-12 curriculum helps them to
choose the course they might take in college, while 21% of the respondents think that the
k-12 curriculum is just for additional years.

Figure 7 How many times did you try to decide in choosing of your course in
college?

Out of 100 respondents, 10% of the sample settled once in choosing their collegiate
course, 12% of the respondents think twice in choosing what course they might take, 24%
of the respondents decided thrice, and 54% of the respondents are still undecided and still
shifting the course they might take for college.

Do you consider your prior knowledge and skills to your
respective course?

Out of 100 respondents, 92% of the samples viewed their prior knowledge and skills
regarding their respective collegiate degree, while 8% of the respondents did not consider
their prior knowledge and skills on deciding what collegiate course they might take.

Figure 9 In choosing the right course, who do you think you can seek advices?

Out of 100 respondents, 10% of the sample thinks that they can seek advices from
their advisers, 24% of them asked advices from others, 32% of it considered the
professionals in helping them to decide, and 34% of the respondents seek advices from
their parents on what course they think they are suited.

Is your chosen school in college have an influence in your
respective course?

Out of 100 respondents, 80 % of the samples believe that their chosen college or
school might help them choose the collegiate degree they might take in college, while
20% of the respondents think that their chosen college campus doesn’t influence their
respective collegiate degree

Out of 100 respondents, 83% of the samples exert efforts on choosing their
respective collegiate degree, while 17% of the respondents do not apply effort for their
decision making to enter in college.

Data Analysis

The researchers had gathered all the data and have formulated graphs that show
the different opinions of graduating Grade 12 ABM students on choosing their respective
course for their collegiate degree, and the researchers found out that most of the
respondents gave an allotted time and effort on choosing the right collegiate degree for
their future.

Majority of them decided more than three times to come up with the idea of their
chosen course. They seek advices from others, especially to their parents to guide them
and be prepared to the appropriate course they should take.

Most of the respondents have already a chosen course for their selves and it is
related to the strand that they are currently taking; the K-12 curriculum helps them to
have an additional time to think further on choosing their respective courses. They
believe that their chosen school, in college, should be considering in the decision making
of their preffered collegiate degree.

The students considered job opportunities to attain a certain bachelor’s degree


and their wants and passion to the desired course for college, also they viewed the
relation of their prior knowledge and skills in choosing the right degree in college for
them.
