CHAPTER 5

SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

This study sought to explore the Factors Affecting the Decision Making of

Graduating ABM Students in choosing their Respective Courses among selected students

from Grade 12 ABM Strand in San Pedro College of Business Administration.

In this part of the study presents the summary of findings, conclusion and the

recommendation of the researchers.

Summary of Findings

Based on the data findings indicated to be evident:

I. Profile of the Respondents

A.Personal Profile

A.1 Sex Distribution, most respondents were female (76 or 76%)

B.Academic Background

B.1 Strand, all of the respondents are from the strand of

Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM).

II. Factors Affecting the Decision Making for Collegiate Degree

1. Job Opportunities, the respondents consider the employability rates of the

course after finishing college.

2. Financial Capability, they regard if they can be able to afford their desired

collegiate course.

3. Want & Passion, considering their freedom of choice to take the course they

desire.

4. Family’s Wishes, taking the course in college because of the influence of

family members.

5. Prior knowledge and skill, applying their wisdom and experience on

choosing the respective courses for them.

6. School in College, accessibility of the school where they should take their

degree in college.

III. Problems Encountered

1. Financial unable to support the desired course, 20% of the respondents

considered their financial capability.

2. Still undecided to their chosen course, 24% of the respondents do not have a

selected course for college.

Conclusion

Based on findings the researchers concluded that among the factors affecting the
decision making of graduating ABM students in choosing their respective courses such as
job opportunities, wants and passion, financial capability, family’s wishes, prior
knowledge and skills, and school in college. Majority of the respondents consider the job
opportunities of the collegiate degree and the wants and passion of the students to their
desired course for college.

The prior knowledge and skills of respondents is also a big factor of consideration
to know the right collegiate degree they should take.

The researchers had analysed that most of the respondents allotted time and effort
on choosing the right collegiate degree for their future. Majority of them decided more
than three times to come up with the idea of their chosen course. They seek advices from
others, especially to their parents to guide them and be prepared to the appropriate course
they should take.

Most of the respondents have already a chosen course for themselves and it is
related to the strand that they are currently taking; the K-12 curriculum helps them to
have an additional time to think further on choosing their respective courses.

They believe that their chosen school in college should be considering in the
decision making of their preffered collegiate degree.

The students mostly consider the job opportunities to that certain
bachelor’s degree and their wants and passion to the desired course for college, also they
viewed the relation of their prior knowledge and skills in choosing the right degree in
college for them.

Recommendation

From the findings and conclusion of the study, the following recommendations

are hereby presented:

 Students should be guided by their parents for them to undergo necessary

preparation to take the most appropriate course that they want.

 All schools in Laguna must be offered scholarship program to help and

encourage the students to continue their studies.

 Students must study well and pursue to get high grades to qualify for

scholarship and other programs that can support the studies.

 Students must have freedom to choose their desired collegiate degree.
