Pitch

By Harvey Smith - 989736

Why I chose
Short Film
Throughout my time at college I have
really enjoyed making short films
specifically and think it would be the
perfect way to showcase what I have
learnt.
The main ways I developed my
ideas was through utilizing Mind

Idea Development Maps and Focus Groups

These were very useful in the

process of evolving my Idea
Final Idea
My final idea is a Neo Western idea that involves a man on the run who finds a small shack and stays in there
until his wounds heal, a man stumbles across him and offers to help, throughout his narration / telling the story
of how he got there (non- linear) introducing the bounty hunter and their kerfuffle. We then find out that the
injured man is the antagonist he then kills the helper because they wanted to inform the authorities but as the
antagonist tends to his wounds himself the bounty hunter bursts in and shoots him and ends with the bounty
hunter leaving.

I have taken inspiration from films like No Country for Old Men (2007), El Camino (2019) and Nope (2022) as I
like how because it is set at a time unusual for western it adds a sort of uniqueness.
Issues I may Face
● Location Scouting
● Problems with equipment
● Problems with weather
And how I can solve them
For this Unit I would like to further
my knowledge with use of visual

How will I challenge effects

myself? I would also like to get more

creative with how I use a camera
Why Should I Produce This Production?
● To push my message

● Lack of Western today

● To challenge myself and show what I have learnt
