Experiment-E - 2 Object- Identification of various types of PCB and soldering Techniques. apparatus Required- PCB Board , Soldering Iron , Solder Wire , Flux , Soldering tand. TYPES OF PCB BOARD PCB boards are classified into three types: single sided, double sided and multi- layered PCB boards and all the three types of PCB Boards are briefly discussed low. 1, Single Sided Board Single sided print circuit boards are in use since 1950s and are still dominating the market. The design of this single sided PCB is simple and contains copper trades on one side of the board. Each component can be inserted from the non-copper side of the board, and each pin can be soldered to the copper track. The operating temperatures may range from1300C to 2300C; this type of PCB Board is commonly used in calculators, basic electronic circuits, coffee machines, printers, etc. 2. Double Sided Board Double sided Printed Circuit Board type of circuits act as a gateway to higher technology applications. In this type of PCB, the copper tracks are available on both sides of the board. The layout is designed in such a way that it does not allow the shorts from one side to the other. If there is a requirement to link points from two sides, the electrical connections are made by small interconnecting holes during the manufacturing process and are plated with copper. The most common uses of the double sided PCBs include mobile systems, amplifiers, converters, instrumentation devices, regulators, etc. 3. Multilayered PCB Board As the name suggest, this type of PCB is made by multiple PCBs that are assembled together with a mutual connection between them. Multilayered print circuit boards are used mainly in some professional electronic equipments like computers. These types of PCBs are very useful in high-speed circuit operations. The multilayered fabrications are very similar to the microchip fabrications, and they can be built on ceramic, copper and aluminium. Applications that use multilayered print circuit boards include x-ray equipment, weather analysis equipments, satellite systems, and others. Classification of different Soldering methods Soft Soldering — Soft soldering is’a process for fitting very minute compound parts possessing low liquefying temperature, which have been broken during the procedure of soldering is performed at high temperature. In this process, a tin-lead alloy is used as space filler metal. The liquefying temperature of the space filler alloy must not be less than 400°C / 752°F. Hard Soldering In this type of soldering a solid solder unites two elements of metals by spreading out into the holes of the component that are unlocked due to high temperature. The space filler metal grips higher temperature more than 450°C/840°F. It comprises of two elements: Silver soldering and Brazing. Silver Soldering It is an unsolled method supportive to fabricate small components, carrying out abnormal maintenance and built-up tools. It makes use of an alloy containing silver as a space filler metal. Braze Soldering This type of soldering is a procedure for connecting two terminals. of the base metals by forming liquid metallic space filler, which runs by the attraction of a vessel through the joints and cools down to give a solid union through diffusion and atomic magnetism. It produces a very strong joint. Result- Study of Various been done. types of PCB Identification and Soldering Techniques has Scanned with CamScanner
