Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can
cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
It is said that, in a country where speaking a foreign language is
compulsory, immigrants are faced with various problems in society. I strongly subscribe to this statement due to some main reasons. The very first reason is that speaking a homey language would help individuals going overseas to communicate with local dwellers. Obviously, oral interaction is a direct way to not only strike up a relationship but also expand one’s social life. In other word, lack of relationships may lead to feeling lonely. For instance, a person living in a new country, when attending a meeting or a party, if he could not understand what others talk about so that he fails to participate in their discussions, he would be less likely to experience joyful moments. Hence, having a local lingual ability plays an important role in socializing. Additionally, it is undeniable that speaking a foreign language has essential effects on daily life. In fact, in several situations, one without knowing local language would get in trouble. To illustrate it, when a person goes shopping but cannot explain the specific products he need, the seller may misunderstand and give him wrong goods. Therefore, immigrants have to learn the language of their destination country so as to live easily and handle their work in the best way. Albeit some may argue that it can be possible to speak with mother-tongued sayings and have them translated by some kinds of modern application, this way could be really arduous that local accept them in their community. In a nutshell, I do believe that conversation skills with foreigner languages contribute to creating close-knit relationships for communication and do other tasks that are necessary for living properly.
