Abbreviations (US Terms)
St or Sts - Stitch or Stitches
Mc - Magic Circle/Magic Ring
Sc - Single Crochet
hdc - Half Double Crochet
SISt - Slip Stitch
Inc - Increase
Dec - Invisible Decrease
CC - Colour Change (counts as a st)Read Me Before You Start
This pattern is worked in the round and using US terminology, and is always worked
in continuous rounds.
The single crochet stitch that is used is the yarn under, yarn over method. This makes
the stitches tighter and the project smaller. You can use standard single crochet
yarn over, yarn over stitch which will give you a bigger stitch. You may have to adjust
the felt sizes slightly to account for this.
On page 17, there are templates you can use to cut out your felt pieces.
Stitch markers are helpful to mark the end of your round.
Mc# indicates the amount of stitches to place in your magic circle. Ex: Mc 6 is a
magic circle with 6 stitches in it.
# - Indicates round number. Ex. R3 means round 3
When instructions are followed by a number, you repeat the instruction the number
indicated after the "x". Ex: (Sc, Inc) x2 means Sc, Inc, Sc, Inc.
At the end of each round [#] indicates the amount of stitches you should have at
the end of your round.
Colour changes count as a stitch. To colour change, insert your hook under both
loops, yarn over and pull through. Using the new colour, lay your yarn over your hook
and pull through both loops on the hook. Knot the two different coloured yarn tails
together to secure and prevent unraveling
This pattern uses ONLY invisible decreases. Make sure you do not decrease as a
single crochet two together, as it will create gaps in your work!Head

the last stitch made on that Ist “bump”.
Follow the instructions on the next page.Bone Continued

Before continuing, use the yarn tail of
the Ist “bump” to sew up the hole in
between the two “bumps”. Create a
knot here to secure. Trim the excess just
enough for the knot to remain secure.

Cut the yam leaving about 8 in (20 cm) for finishing off. Bind off the piece by using a
tapestry needle to pick up the front loops only of the remaining sts and pulling tight.
Using the tapestry needle, feed the yarn halfway up the bone for sewing in later.Assembly
Start by assembling the head.
Stuff the horns and teeth firmly.Only use
a small amount of stuffing in the cheek
pieces.
Pin all the pieces to the head as shown
in the pictures below.
Start by sewing in the horns and then the
teeth by sewing each stitch into the
piece. When working on the eye, sew in
the piece by using a running stitch where
you go up one stitch and down the next
stitch over. this will maintain the edge
around the eye.
To finish off the head, attach the cheek to
the head just underneath the eye.Assembly Continued
Using the templates found on page 17, cut out the felt pieces. Layer the pupil on top
of the iris and then iris on top of the eye. Sew each of these pieces together in this
order using a whip stitch and matching yarn. Then sew down the nose using the same
method
If you do not want to sew, you can use fabric glue to adhere these pieces to each
other and then the crochet piece.
Next, sew the head to the body by
sewing each stitch of the body to the
head.
Position the head so that it is tilted
slightly upwards. It is helpful to use pins to
keep the head in the right place
Create a knot at the end and hide the
yarn tail through the body. Trim the
excess.
Stuff, poisition and pin the arms onto the body keeping the arms tilted towards the
center of the belly. Sew each of the stitches down and create a knot a the end.
Don't trim the excess yet!Assembly
Attach the leg to the foot by sewing
each of the stitches of the leg down.
Create a knot at the end.
When sewing this down, make sure the
foot is offset so that the leg lands more
‘on the “heel” of the foot. hoa
Hide the yarn through the leg and trim
the excess.
Pin the legs to the body as shown below. The top of the legs should sit just below the
arms when the arms are pinned down to the body. The legs should curve slightly
around the body when it is pinned. Use the yarn tail from the magic circle of the leg
to sew around the leg to the body using a running stitch. Create a knot at the end
and hide the yarn tail through the piece and trim the excess.
Using a whip stitch, sew in the belly patch to the body as shown. Create a knot at the
end and hide the yarn tail through the piece. Trim the excess.Assembly
Using the remaining of the arm yarn tail, sew down the arms so they stay tigher to the
body. Make a knot to secure and hide the yarn through the piece. Trim the excess.
Position and pin the tail onto the back of
the piece. Sew each stitch down using
the yarn tail and when there are
approximately 10 stitches remaining,
stuff the tail. Finish sewing the piece and
then create a knot and hide the tail
through the body.
Trim the excess.
Stack the two spines on the back with the smaller on top of the larger one. Pin these
into place and begin sewing into place. Stuff the spine when there are only a few
stitches left. Finish sewing and create a knot at the end. Hide the yarn tail through the:
piece and cut the excess yarn.

NeAssembly Continued
Finally, attach the bone to the hand of
either of the arms.
Create a knot to secure and hide the
yarn tail through the piece. Trim the
excess.Stencils
