DESIGN PROJECT
1. Cover Page: Name of your project, Your Full Name, Cohort and Campus (Design Logo/ add a graphic
as per your project)
2. Business Pitch/ Idea:
i. Explain your idea in 3-4 sentences of what do you want to do and why? USP of Project
ii. What’s the need for a project/ idea?
3. Case Studies: Key Takeaways and how do you incorporate that within your design
4. Add Any Background Research based on your Project + Surveys/ Interviews including research with
respect to Anthropometrics and Ergonomics
5. Design Concept:
i. Brainstorming sheet & arriving at your concept (Can be developed on Miro/ any digital tool)
ii. Concept Statement: Explain what your design concept is. Why have you taken it and how do
you plan to approach it.
iii. Concept sheet/ Board: A visual representation of your concept.
6. User Group: Who is the user of this space? Put together visuals and support with text to depict who is
the user group?
7. Site Analysis: Through Diagram
i. Neighbourhood Analysis: Analyse the site and its suitability for your project. Include
accessibility, roads, parking, transport, neighbourhood properties etc.
ii. Site Analysis: Study its orientation, views, noise levels and other factors that may have an
effect on design.
iii. Explain how this site is appropriate for the idea chosen
8. List Design Program/ Area Program with area for different spaces/ Spatial requirements and explain
about the space – how do you plan to use it, how it is appropriate for the project- business wise/ for
user group, explain the activity that will happen, what do you plan to do with it etc in 3-6 lines.
9. Branding and Collaterals for theme 
10. Schematic Design: Massing, zoning, layouts based on extensive site analysis and research, client
study, program analysis etc.
a. Bubble Diagram marking Privacy levels, Adjacency/Proximity, views/ sun, noise, circulation
etc.
b. Zoning/ blocking diagram: Present Zoning with a thorough understanding of spaces, their
nature, activities and their proximity with each other. 2D Zoning Diagram/ 3D Diagram

11. Drawing Set:


a. Layout Plan:
i. Rendered Furniture: With clear understanding of material, Finishes, Textures and
Lighting.
i. Working Drawing: Furniture Layout – Black & White drawing with all clearances
marked, properly label each space with Dimensions & Furniture Legend.
*Mark North, Section Lines and all other important Annotations. Take care of Line
Weights, Line types.
b. Sectional Elevations:
i. Rendered: 2 Rendered Sectional Elevations through the entire building - with
Material/ Finishes/ texture etc.
ii. Working Drawing: 2 Sectional Elevations Black & White drawing with all heights
marked, finishes & Materials properly labelled.
*Cut the sections at relevant points (i.e. double heights, mezzanine, and staircase)
which help to understand the internal volumes better.

12. Detail out a minimum of 2 Spaces: (Rendered Drawing + Working Drawing)


i. Drawings:
a. Furniture Layout
b. Flooring Plan
c. Ceiling Design (RCP)
d. 4 Sectional Elevations
Including the Flooring patterns, Surface treatment, textures, Material thickness, joinery etc.
ii. Concept Sketches explaining your design idea of different sections – seating types,
washroom, façade etc.
iii. Inspiration Board: Compilation of visual explaining your design intent
iv. Element Board: Space by space/ Section By section including concept sketches, images/
reference images – Include references of Ceiling + Flooring + Furniture + Furnishings + Décor
+ Lighting + Look & Feel/ Mood
v. Material Board: Material Visuals put together for the materials that you plan to use
vi. Colour Board: Colour palette for a section/ space as a whole
vii. 3D Views to explain your concept – a minimum of 2 of each section/part of your space
Internal views of the building highlighting key design elements. It must reflect your choice of material,
color, texture, furniture etc. to express the overall aesthetics of the selected space.

13. Additional: Any other medium – video/ voice over/ physical material board etc anything else required
to explain your design idea, a student is free to work on.

14. Detailed Case-Studies: (Do not Print this Section)


i. 2 Domestic & 2 International with proper Harvard referencing
ii. Your Key take away/ Inference

POINTS TO CONSIDER:
1. Professional Documentation of work on InDesign – Work with columns
2. Limit the number of sheets and compose well.
3. Sheet Size: A3 – Print of a regular bond sheet – No glossy sheets.
4. Spiral Bind the document.
5. Not more than 20 Sheets.
6. Add Header, Footer, Page Numbers etc.
7. Technical Drawings to be printed directly from AutoCAD/ PDf with Title Block & No format to be
added.
8. Explain with text how have you translated the Concept within the design of the space, your choice of
material, colour texture, pattern, details, lighting etc and why?
