Mending the Trained Church

Mt. 4:21
INTRO
- When Jesus called Peter and Andrew to the ministry, He wanted them to be fishers of
men, and they did that on several occasions that Peter was able to catch thousand of
Jewish fishes during the day of the Pentecost and another Gentile fishes in the house of
Cornelius.
- When John and James were called-out they were mending their nets. This mending of
net/church doesn’t mean repairing a tear. It is more than fixing. It is restoring,
equipping, perfecting, completing and framing them. It is a ministry that fixes them,
restores them, perfects them, completes them and frames them together to be build up
the Church of God.
- God doesn’t want us to just win people unto Him, but He wanted us to build up a body
of church that is restored, edified, perfected, equipped and attuned to one another in
order to achieve the purpose that God’s wants us to pursue in life. We need saints who
experienced Christ inward mending that may be able to help us mend and build the
body of church. Sometimes we must understand that mending things doesn’t
necessarily mean that they are broken. But they need that in order to function or work
as what they have been called out.
- For these to happen we need Leaders, Mentors and Pastors who experience a life
mended by Christ inwardly and successfully.

What are the things that the leaders need to understand in order to mend the church?
1. Always remember that mending is not just for the broken but also for improvement.
- When we mend certain things always remember that sometimes they are not broken,
but we need to add up some things for these in order to be more efficient and effective.
It is for improvement, para mas madaling gamitin sa isang bagay at mas maging
kagamit-gamit.

A. Improved things are useful

- A cashier after the training were deployed in a supermarket, she was able to remember
all the things that she learned during the training, however during the deployment her
manager called her out and told her she needs improvement upon receiving a complain
about being slow and unproductive. What do you think she needs to do? She already
knows everything about cashiering. Re-training is not useful to her anymore. (Kailangan
niya ng diskarte) She needs to organize the things that she learned during the training
while she applies it to her job, she also needs to improve her cashiering skills, and the
way on how she uses the resources around her. She needs more than just a training, she
needs someone who can help her perfecting her skills and how to use these efficiently,
effectively and accurately.

B. Improved things are efficient

- Efficient means being well-organized and competent in every way. We need efficient
things in order to achieve the maximum productivity. Our goal is to win more souls to
Jesus, to train, equip, restore, complete, perfect and frame them in building up and
edifying the church.

C. Improved things are effective

- Being effective means fulfilling a specified function with a desired intended result.
We do not just seek for productivity but with a quality. Being effective is making sure
that our ministry thrive for excellency not to perfection. Doing excellent is far more than
being ok. (Ok nay an, pwede nayan) but we must Qmake sure that it is pleasing and
worthy to God’s glorious standard.

Illustration: (2 Kings 9:1-13) King Jehu of Israel was anointed and chosen by God to lead
the Israel during the chaotic kingdom stage. Jehu was chosen despite of his basic
qualities. He would have been a great leader and king to the throne if hadn’t been
mediocre. He might be a man of immediate action but without a purpose. He eliminated
one form of idolatry only to uphold another one.

2. Allow God to expose our needs to be mended.

A. Accept your vulnerability
- As a Christian and disciple of God we must accept that we are expose in the possibility
of being attacked or harmed, emotionally or physically. Being hurt doesn’t mean you are
broken. Not until you let that pain remains and twisted your personality and attitude.
- After losing the ones we love (death
