When you click the file tab, it will display the backstage view. The backstage view helps
you manage your documents.

The following are the different commands found in the backstage view under the File ta:

Creating New Document


To create a new document in Microsoft Word 2016:
1. From the Fille tab, click New.
2. Choose Blank document

Opening Existing Document


You can open a document using the following steps:

1. From the File tab, click Open then click Browse.


2. When Open dialog box appears, go to where the needed document is located.
3. Find and select the file and then click Open.

Saving Document

1. On the File tab, click Save As.


2. Click Browse. The Save as dialog box will appear.
3. Go to the location where you want to save the document.
4. Type the name of the document on the File name box. Click Save.

Closing Documents

When you are done working on your document, close the document and the Microsoft
Word.

To close only the current document window, on the control buttons, just click the Close
button.

MAPEH 1 What to Do When Coughing and Sneezing

Objectives:
 Learn the importance of covering the mouth when coughing or sneezing
 Tell the possible effects of coughing and sneezing in public places
Lesson
This is what happens when you cough or sneeze.

The body automatically gets rid of irritants such as dust, pollen, smoke, or any irritating
smell that enters the nose by sneezing to protect the lungs from contamination.
Coughing is also the body’s way of getting rid of irritants, which is caused by the mucus in
the lungs and airway passages.
Sneezing accompanied by coughing and runny nose are symptoms of the common cold
caused by viruses. Therefore, it is contagious.

viruses and other germs into the
surrounding air. Common colds spread
when these viruses are inhaled by other people.

Things to Remember When Coughing


Cover your mouth and nose with tissue
when you cough. Then, throw it into the waste basket.
If you do not have a tissue, you may use
your handkerchief, or cover your mouth and
nose with the crook of your arm. Do not use your hands.

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap


and water, or you can use alcohol or sanitizer,
to get rid of germs on your hands.

WRAP UP
 Sneezing is the body’s way of removing irritants such as dust, pollen, smoke, or irritating
odor.
 Coughing is also the body’s way of removing irritants, which is caused by the mucus in
the lungs and airway passages.
 To prevent the spread of the common cold and other respiratory diseases, always cover of
your mouth with a tissue, handkerchief, or the crook of your arm when coughing or
sneezing.
