DAILY WI-FI Connection (Joshua 1:8)

Word, Initiative, Fervent, Impact

I. LESSON ON FERVENT/FERVOR

(hobby)

FERVOR = KASIGASIGAN = Ardor = Strong feeling of love

- Fervor (n); Fervent (adj)

- To have Spiritual fervor, we need love first.

Matthew 22:36-37
36
“Teacher,” he asked, “which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37
Jesus answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

- To love God, we need to know Him more, kaya nga nadiscuss kanina yung about sa WORD.

A. FERVOR
- Comes from the latin word “FERVERE”.
1. To boil/ heat up/ uminit. FERVOR = Nag-iinit at nagliliwanag

2. To glow/ magliwanag.
>>> (Show video of metal being heated)

Q: Ano ang makikita natin sa video? A) Bakal na nakababad sa apoy. B) Nag-iinit at nagliliwanag.

- di pwede ang on-off-on-off.
- sabi nga sa Joshua 1:8, “study the book of the law DAY AND NIGHT”.

ROMANS 12:11
GNT- 11 Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion.
KJV- 11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
NIV- 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

- We need to keep our spiritual fervor to keep serving the LORD.

B. WAYS TO STAY CONNECTED AND HAVE FERVOR

1. Prayer – it is not simply communication but is power. (to be victorious, to do the impossible, to move mountains, etc…)
2. Worship – Focusing on who God is.
3. Praise – Focusing on what He has done.
4. Thanksgiving – pagbibigay ng pasasalamat.
5. Fasting – denying our flesh and choosing to focus on God. (usually food, and can be partial)
6. Attending church service – (>>>Show pic from youth group chat.) Hebrews 10:25
7. Fellowship – sama sama na nag –iispend ng time together with our fellow Christians and with the Lord.
- Lagi tayo dapat na kumuconnect kay God thru these ways. Gawin araw-araw yung kayang gawin araw- araw.

REVIEW:
GNT- 11 Work hard and do not be lazy. Serve the Lord with a heart full of devotion.

“We should not be lazy!!!”

- Being lazy keeps us from being fervent – it is a HINDRANCE kapag nagpadala tayo dito.

C. HINDRANCES TO SPIRITUAL FERVOR

1. Sin - (>>>show video first) Q: can the Lord be together with sin? Obviously, no!! — and since this is the case, our feelings of
guilt keeps us away from God.

2. Friendship with the world

1 John 2:15
15
Do not love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you do not love the Father.
Romans 12:2

Do not conform yourselves to the standards of this world, but let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your
mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God—what is good and is pleasing to him and is perfect.

3. Problems (Job, School)

Q: what are your problems usually in school?
Tell: personal experience. (dahil sa pagod, tinatamad na magspend ng time kay Lord, or dahil sa kabusyhan, nakakalimutan
na si Lord)
Q: what is our usual response? Unang ginagawa mo kapag may problema?
- we tend to forget the Lord when we are faced with many different problems. The right response is, find the Lord in the
middle of the storm.
- also, do not think that God is pleased when we are going through sufferings/ problems, however, He is glad if He sees in us
the right attitude when facing them. (source Book:battlefield of the mind)

4. Relationships
- Family relationships, love-life, friends and classmates

DO: sabihin sa katabi, “HUWAG KANG MAGPAPADALA!!”

REVIEW:
NIV- 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but KEEP your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.

- Means “panatilihin”.
kanina. Kailangan nating panatilihin ang fervor — kailangan nating “mag-effort”.
- Kapag napanatili natin ang ating fervor, we will naturally have “IMPACT”

II. LESSON ON IMPACT

A. Impact – epekto

- Fervor (FERVERE) — To boil/ heat up/ uminit — To glow/ magliwanag — TO HAVE IMPACT.
- Magliwanag/maging liwanag
Matthew 4:14-16
14
“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15 No one lights a lamp and puts it under a
bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. 16 In the same way your light must
shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.

Q: Paano ba tayo magliliwanag? BY PRACTICING OUR FAITH/APPLYING OUR FAITH.

Joshua 1:8

Be sure that the book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey
everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

- After na basahin, i-apply at ipamuhay.

B. Practicing Romans 12
>>> (refer to powerpoint presentation)
Verse 1 – Offering God true worship by being living sacrifices.
Verse 2 – Not conforming to the patterns of this world
– renewing our minds
Verse 3 – be modest/humble
Verse 4-8 – using our gifts (preaching, serving, encouraging, sharing)
Verse 8 - working hard, showing kindness
Verse 9 – love sincerely, hate evil, love good.
Verse 10 – loving and respecting
Verse 11 – working hard/ not being lazy
Verse 12 – joyful, patient, praying at all times
Verse 13 – sharing to fellow Christians and opening our homes to them.
Verse 14 – blessing those who persecute us.
Verse 15 – sharing in other’s happiness and sorrow.
Verse 16 – having concern for everyone, being humble
Verse 17 and 19 – not taking revenge
Verse 18 — maintaining peace with everybody
Verse 21 — conquering evil with good

C. Results of IMPACT to our surroundings

1. We bring people to God.
Acts 11:24
24
Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and many people were brought to the Lord.

2. We bring change (the way the world sees and treats us)
a. those whose minds are open will support us because they can see the good in us. (for example, some of my friends)
b. those whose minds are closed will persecute us.

3. You will be remembered.

a. People who had great impact can still be remembered until today.
Q: pag sinabing best teacher, may naiisip ka ba? Sino? That person has made an impact to you.
(Ex: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, David, Elijah, Moses and the best example is Jesus)
- something they have common is all of them were extraordinary. What Jesus did is still remembered up to this day. (kaya nga
may Holy week, because they recognize what Jesus has done)
Q: are you extraordinary (above the normal)? Or are you normal? (goes with the sinful pattern of this world)

Since daily WI-FI connection, dapat, daily fervent and impact din.
