Instructions for MECHANIC zeroing C1 and C2 axes without caliber (tool
8x90)

a. Switch off the machine or put it in emergency mode

b. Manually take action on C1 pulley, checking how much it rotates prior that
mechanical intervenes
c. This mechanical play (backlash) has to be reduced to the minimum but not to
zero
d. Loosen the three screws on the flange behind the pulley and get closer to one or
two notches rotating the right pulley anticlockwise and the left pulley clockwise.
Both flanges have to be rotated with the same value.
e. This operation has to be executed for C1 and C2 axes
f. Tighten the screws of the flanges and try to rotate the C axis (via CNC) from 0° to
360°, first clockwise and then anticlockwise to check that the mechanics is all
right
g. If the C1 or C2 crashes means that the play is too little, so you have to try to
remove the flange of the blocked axes by one notch, until the mechanics rotates
without any problem.

h. Put the tool 8x90 on the machine, free from springs and spring disk on the axes
C1 and put C1 axes to 90°
i. Place the dial gauge with magnetic base on the X axis and point the rod at the
end of the inside part of the punch
j. Move C1 axes to 120°, manually taking the comparator rod away from the punch
to avoid damaging the comparator
k. Return to 90°, put the comparator rod to the end of the punch, then set to zero
the comparator
l. Move C axes to 60° and then return to 90°
m. Place the tip of the comparator at the end of the punch and see if compared to
'zero the dial gauge is positive or negative, and for which value.
n. If it goes in positive, intervene on the parameter "inversion backlash recovery"
decreasing by 1.5 unit for each cent error compared to zero
o. If it goes in negative, intervene on the parameter "inversion backlash recovery"
increasing by 1.5 unit for each cent error compared to zero
p. Repeat this check operation with comparator up to maintain zero (without any
error)

Let's move to the alignment of C1 axis:

a. Put the comparator to the end of the punch and set to zero the comparator
b. With step of 10 mm advance with Y axis up to the end of the punch and check
how much it moved from the starting zero.

If comparator go in positive proceed as indicated here below:

o Enter to the page of machine maintenance. Set the C axis to zero
o Insert ”Step Selection” in “Free”
o Make a whole rotation of C axis pushing the key C1+ arriving to 358.50
o Change ”Step Selection” to 1 mm arriving to 359.50
o Change ”Step Selection” to 0.1 mm arriving to the 0°
o Go beyond zero for the value detected by the comparator
o Fix the zero of C1 axis in that position
o Take back C axis to 90° and check again the alignment.

If comparator goes in negative proceed as indicated here below:

o Enter to the page of machine maintenance. Set the C axis to zero
o Insert ”Step Selection” in “Free”
o Make a whole rotation of C axis pushing Key C1+ arriving to the zero
deducted the error value of the comparator (es. If error is 0.10 you
have to stop to 359.90) – tollerance ± 0,03 using all necessary steps to
not exceed it
o Fix the zero of C1 axis in that position
o Take back C axis to 90° and check again the alignment.

Follow the same procedure for the axis C2 positioning the comparator at end
of the lower die.

Instructions to reset C1 and C2 axes

To perform a successful restore resets the

axes C1 (upper) and C2 (bottom), you must
be sure that the mechanical position of the
dowel pins are in the correct punch and die
locations: they should be placed toward the
front of the machine (Fig. 1 and 2).

When dowel pins are in correct positions,

check C1 pulley (upper right side of
machine, near C1 motor): in pulley, arrow
must coincide with the fixed arrow mounted
on the structure (Fig. 3)

To move pulley manually, press

EMERGENCY and rotate pulley until arrows
coincide.

Then check C2 pulley (lower left side of

machine, near C2 motor): also in this pulley,
arrow must coincide with the fixed arrow
mounted on the structure (Fig. 4)

To move pulley manually, press

EMERGENCY and rotate pulley until arrows
coincide.

When dowel pins and pulley arrows are in correct positions, you have to reset
“zero point” by Tecnocontrol software.
a. From MAIN MENU, click “User” on right side
of screen
Click “Support” (Assistance) and write “a” as
password
b. From MAIN MENU, click on “Maintenance”
Check “Block” button: tools must be blocked
to reset axis (Fig. 5)
c. In lower side of “Maintenance” window, you
can find “Set Zero” buttons (Fig. 6)

d. Press “C1” button in “Set Zero”

e. Machine asks a password: “colabattista” or “cola” is password
f. Machine asks if you want to DELETE
(“ANNULLARE”) actual zero point of C1: you have
to accept it (“SI”) (Fig. 7)
g. Machine suggests you to turn your CNC off, but
you have to close this window
h. Press “C2” button in “Set Zero”
i. Machine asks if you want to DELETE
(“ANNULLARE”) actual zero point of C2: you have
to accept it (“SI”) (Fig. 7)
j. Now you can switch CNC off: on CNC you
have to disconnect the power supply cable
(Fig. 8) for 10 seconds (CNC display must
be off) and then reconnect it.
k. When machine restarts, go to MAIN MENU,
click on “Maintenance” again
In lower side of “Maintenance” window, in
“Set Zero” buttons, (Fig. 6) you should see “C1” and “C2” in yellow color
(and not red)
l. Press “C1” button in “Set Zero”
m. Machine asks if you want to FIX (“FISSARE”) actual zero point of C1: you
have to accept it (“SI”)
n. Machine suggests you to turn your CNC off, but you don’t do it and close
this message window

o. Press “C2” button in “Set Zero”
p. Machine asks if you want to FIX (“FISSARE”) actual zero point of C2: you
have to accept it (“SI”)
q. Now you can switch CNC off: on CNC you have to disconnect the power
supply cable (Fig. 8) for 10 seconds and then reconnect it (CNC display
must be off).

When machine restarts, C1 and C2 axis are ready.

LAST VERIFY

To verify that the tools are now aligned with each other, it is convenient to
make a further visual check before proceeding with the normal processes of
production.

a. Press EMERGENCY
b. Load a rectangular tool (for example 8x90).
c. In Tecnocontrol software, click on “Maintenance”
d. Click on “Clutch – Engage” (“Frizione – Innesta”, Fig. 9)
e. With a 22 mm hex wrench, turn the crankshaft (PMS-PMI center, Fig. 11)
clockwise to PMI point, until punch penetrates in matrix (Fig. 10)

Now you can make a visual check of correct alignment of the tools
When finished, turn the arrow to PMS
