Internship position and Nature of work
As an intern with SKB & Associates, I worked at a paralegal position and
was responsible for research based work focused mainly on the
corporate sector and apart from this also to assist in few cases with
regards to their summary and factual research. I was provided with
tasks on deadline basis and was also guided throughout as to how to go
about with the task and accomplish the same within the time frame.
The firm also ensured that apart for these tasks I do get involved in
other activities and helped me connect with some of the most
experienced and reputed members of the profession, so that I get an
opportunity to learn from them and build connections and practical
knowledge as well.
At SKB & Associates I was given an opportunity to try my hand on
various legal matters relating to corporate sector along with other
facets of law such as social and environmental prospects. Apart from
this, the firm also encouraged me to actively participate in its
discussions and give my inputs on various matters which gave me a
sense of self confidence.
I got an exposure not only to research work using traditional methods
and computer-based techniques, but also on how to draft legal
correspondence for attorneys and in preparing subpoenas, and
providing research for depositions. The internship gave an opportunity
to gather and organize factual case information, and research
applicable laws and relevant legal articles, also in writing and preparing
legal documents.
Internship experience
During my internship with Law Rounder, I learned how to efficiently do
research work utilizing key words and correct platforms. I was able to
put these skills in practice in research projects given to me and thus
completing the same on or before the deadline itself. Apart from this
the internship taught me various aspects and current scenario of the
insurance sector and the importance of use and practical knowledge of
the insurance laws. Also by providing me the opportunity to work with
Mr. Gurdeep Singh, this internship gave me an exposure to the practical
application of theoretical knowledge in the practical world. I got an idea
of how a petition should be well presented and drafted using the
correct format and key words. The research tasks provided to were well
planned and framed so that by doing so I gain knowledge as well as the
required skills for surviving in the practical professional world. The work
was challenging, and I learned a lot from the same and skills such as
legal research, drafting, preparing case briefs and others about the
work and gained more confidence in myself. It was a valuable
experience to work with such a dynamic organization and with such
prominent names. Overall this internship helped me realize my
capabilities and attain practical knowledge in the field of law. Apart
from these I learned the benefits and importance of networking which
is one of the key element for a successful career in the legal field and
also that, enthusiasm is invaluable, as an intern, I discovered it’s
essential to be enthusiastic and open to learning new skills, asking for
more work and being curious to learn and ask questions. This attitude
will show that you enjoy being part of the team and that you're keen to
help. Having curiosity and enthusiasm also means that, as an intern,
you get a lot out of what you’re doing, which opens lots of
opportunities and how important good communication is, as it is the
key to success in a professional environment.

Skills Learned through Internship
The work experiences I encountered during the internship allowed me
to develop the following skills;
 Legal Research
Being able to conduct legal research as directed, using traditional
methods and computer-based techniques.
  Legal Correspondence
Drafting legal correspondence for attorneys regarding legal
questions and concerns as directed.
 Subpoenas
Assisting in preparing subpoenas, and provided research for
depositions.
 Legal Articles
How to research legal databases, regulations, and legal articles
providing findings to lawyers for use in litigation and gather and
organize factual case information; research applicable laws and
relevant legal articles.
 How to put my knowledge and skills into practice
From conducting research tasks and presenting the same in a well
structured manner to preparing case briefs and summary also
drafting sample petitions, I was able to put my theoretical
knowledge into practical application, all thanks to my internship.
 The benefits of networking
During my internship, I learned how to communicate and build
relationships with the people I worked with even though it being
via virtual mode. I learned how to introduce myself, talk about my
interests, knowledge and skills. This process overall helped me
develop my professional network and emphasized the importance
of creating these connections.
 Understanding workplace culture
Culture influences communication even if it is via virtual mode,
and as a Law student, I learned that every company or
organization has its own culture. It’s essential to observe others
and learn how they engage and interact with co-workers, or help
them with projects and tasks. I quickly learned that whenever
something is unclear for me, or I don’t understand, it’s fine to ask
for clarification.
 Taking on feedback
Asking for and receiving professional feedback is very important.
It is essential to take note of both the positive and negative points
for the future, so you can grow and excel in your career. I learned

difficult to hear, but it will have a significant impact on your future
career and success.
 Drafting of Petitions
During this internship I got an opportunity to learn and draft writ
petition and anticipatory bail along with other petitions under
advocate Mr. Gurdeep Singh.
I think I still require to work even harder and gain more knowledge
which would only come by practicing the theory in real life and
brushing up the learned skills by utilizing the same in my professional
career. But, the overall experience was positive, and everything I
learned would be useful in my future career in field Law.
