CNC machining is a manufacturing process which utilizes computerized controls to operate and
manipulate machine and cutting tools to shape stock material—e.g., metal, plastic, wood, foam,
composite, etc.—into custom parts and designs. While the CNC machining process offers various
capabilities and operations, the fundamental principles of the process remain largely the same throughout
all of them.
The CNC program acts as instructions for the CNC machine; it submits machine commands dictating the
tooling’s actions and movements to the machine’s integrated computer, which operates and manipulates
the machine tooling. Initiating the program prompts the CNC machine to begin the CNC machining
process, and the program guides the machine throughout the process as it executes the necessary machine
operations to produce a custom-designed part or product.
2. Drilling machine :-
The drilling machine or drill press is one of the most common and useful machine employed in industry
for producing forming and finishing holes in a workpiece. The unit essentially consists of:
1. A spindle which turns the tool which can be advanced in the workpiece either automatically or by
hand.
Work piece with the exact location marked on it with the centre punch is clamped rigidly on the work
table.spindle axis and center punch indentation are in same line.Machine is started and drill bit is lowered
by rotating feed handle. Drill bit touches the work and starts removing material.
3.Bench grinding:-
A bench grinder is a benchtop type of grinding machine used to drive abrasive wheels. A pedestal grinder
is a similar or larger version of grinder that is mounted on a pedestal, which may be bolted to the floor or
may sit on rubber feet. These types of grinders are commonly used to hand grind various cutting tools and
perform other rough grinding. Depending on the bond and grade of the grinding wheel, it may be used for
sharpening cutting tools such as tool bits, drill bits, chisels, and gouges. Alternatively, it may be used to
roughly shape metal prior to welding or fitting. A wire brush wheel or buffing wheels can be interchanged
with the grinding wheels in order to clean or polish workpieces. Stiff buffing wheels can also be used
when deburring is the task at hand. Some buffing machines (buffers) are built on the same concept as
bench grinders except for longer housings and arbors with buffing wheels instead of grinding
wheels.Bench grinders are standard equipment in metal fabrication shops and machine shops, as are
handheld grinders
