Contrast the programmed and non-programmed decisions made by managers.

Generally, decision making is a process of identifying and selecting a course of action to solve a
specific problem. There are two type of decision making which is programmed decision and non-
programmed decision.

Programmed decision is made in accordance with some habits rules or procedures and also a
recurring situation. Its minimize the need for managers to use discretion because it is already has
rules.

Next, non-programmed decision is deal with unusual or exceptional problems that is non-recurring
situation. This need produce a custom-made response and need more frequent among higher-level
managers. For example, university choose new academic programs.
