Value to be integrated: Appreciation of Cultural Heritage

Value Concept: Appreciation of cultural heritage is about knowing and appreciating the different cultural perspectives in
our society. In this modern time, these cultural perspectives, beliefs, traditions, and values are being forgotten. One of the
biggest examples of cultural heritage being forgotten is the folk music that new generations are not aware of. The
modern world is dominating what the ancestors built to promote their own culture or traditions. There’s still something that
can be done to preserve and promote cultural heritage.

Objectives:
After the lesson, students are expected to:

● Identify the different folk songs from lowlands of Luzon ;


● Promote and appreciate one’s cultural heritage ; and
● Perform folk songs from lowlands of Luzon

area, passed by oral tradition from one singer or
generation to the next.

Now that we know what a folk song is, let's discuss what

lowland groups in Luzon they have different cultures and
in Visayas and Mindanao they also have differences but
there is one thing for sure and that is we are all Filipinos.

lowlands groups in Luzon, we will proceed to the folk
songs in Visayas. The assignment is to list five folk songs
and give a brief description on the message of each
