Telecom Egypt Business Trunk Accessing Solution

Telecom Egypt Business Trunk Accessing Solution

1 Overview

Telecom Egypt(TE) is the first total telecom operator in Egypt. TE’s network is capable of

providing FMC services, such as fixed voice&date line, mobile voice&date line, enterprise

leased line and so on. This document describe the detail solution of Business Trunk

Accessing TE offers to enterprise customers.

2 Business Trunk Accessing Solution

2.1 SIP Trunk Interworking (IP PBX Non Registration)

2.1.1 Network Architecture

Figure 1 Business trunking access to the IMS network in IBCF mode

 Terminal side: includes UEs and IP PBXs. Subscribers of an IP PBX call each

other using short numbers and the calls are connected by the IP PBX. If IP-PBX

subscribers call subscribers outside the IP PBX (such as mobile subscribers), the

Page1, Total17
Telecom Egypt Business Trunk Accessing Solution

IP PBX routes those calls to the IMS network.

 Interworking side: includes the I-SBC(IBCF). The I-SBC connects IP PBXs to the

IMS network. The IBCF provides functions, such as number segment-based route

selection, trunk selection, rerouting upon failure, and extension number

discrimination.

 Core network side: Don’t need Registration in ATS/HSS.

2.1.2 Applied Scenario and Conditions

This Business Trunk Accessing Solution is applicable to:

 The IP-PBX uses static IP access. In static IP access, the IP-PBX's IP address +

port is configured by a carrier.

 The IP-PBX does not have the registration capability.

 The IP-PBX accesses the I/S-CSCF over TCP/TLS.(TLS Certificate is needed for

SIP over TLS. Whether proposing to enterprise depends on TE’s decision. The

supported TLS version includes SSL3.0, TLS1.0, TLS1.1, TLS1.2; the supported

lengths of the key are 1024, 2048 and 4096)

 A maximum of 20,000 IP-PBXs can access the IMS network through the IBCF

 If flexible routing is enabled, this operation has the same adverse impact on the

system as flexible routing, deteriorates the system performance by about 5%..

2.1.3 Call Flows

 Initiating Call Flow

Page2, Total17

IMS network. The BCF provides functions, such as number segment-based route

selection, trunk selection, rerouting upon failure, and extension number

discrimination.

 Core network side: includes the I/S-CSCF, ATS, and IMS-HSS. The I/S-CSCF

connects calls to the ATS. The ATS provides services for subscribers and charges

subscribers for service use. The IMS-HSS stores IP-PBX subscriber data.

2.2.2 Applied Scenario and Conditions

This Business Trunk Accessing Solution is applicable to:

 The IP-PBX uses static IP access. In static IP access, the IP-PBX's IP address +

port is configured by a carrier.

 The IP-PBX does not have the registration capability.

 TCP/TLS is supported between IP-PBX and I-SBC.(TLS Certificate is needed for

SIP over TLS. Whether proposing to enterprise depends on TE’s decision. The

supported TLS version includes SSL3.0, TLS1.0, TLS1.1, TLS1.2; the supported

lengths of the key are 1024, 2048 and 4096).

 One extension belongs to only one IP PBX.

 Subscribers in different areas (subscribers belonging to different emergency call

centers) access the same IP-PBX. When configuring emergency call data for

these subscribers, create a separate account for these subscribers using a

wildcard IMPU and configure location information so that the system can route

calls to the nearest emergency call center.

 When accounts are created using the wildcard IMPU, the Business Trunking

2.3 IP PBX Accessing Through A-SBC/PCSCF (IP PBX Registration)

2.3.1 Network Architecture

Figure 3 shows IP PBX Accessing Through A-SBC/PCSCF

The network can be divided into three main parts:

 Terminal side: includes UEs and IP PBXs. Subscribers of an IP PBX call each

other using short numbers and the calls are connected by the IP PBX. If IP-PBX

subscribers call subscribers outside the IP PBX (such as mobile subscribers), the

IP PBX routes those calls to the IMS network.

 Access side: includes the A-SBC/PCSCF. The A-SBC/PCSCF connects IP PBXs

to the IMS network.

 Core network side: includes the I/S-CSCF, ATS, and IMS-HSS. The I/S-CSCF

connects calls to the ATS. The ATS provides services for subscribers and charges

subscribers for service use. The IMS-HSS stores IP-PBX subscriber data.

2.3.2 Applied Scenario and Conditions

This Business Trunk Accessing Solution is applicable to:

 The IP-PBX has the registration capability.

 In non-wildcard registration, UEs attached to the IP-PBX do not need to initiate

registration procedures. The IP-PBX initiates registration procedures for them.

Page10, Total17
Telecom Egypt Business Trunk Accessing Solution

 Large IP-PBXs (with the concurrent calls greater than or equal to 40) do not

support TCP/TLS access. If TCP/TLS access is used, calls cannot be connected.

 An implicit registration set (IRS) can contain a maximum of 64 IMPUs.

 A maximum of 100,000 wildcard IMPUs can be configured for each SE2900.

 In dynamic IP access, IP-PBXs must use the same CAC, HMR, and signaling

policies.

2.3.3 Call Flows

 Registration Flow

 Initiating Call Flow

 Terminating Call Flow

 Terminal side: includes UEs and IP PBXs. Subscribers of an IP PBX call each

other using short numbers and the calls are connected by the IP PBX. If IP-PBX

subscribers call subscribers outside the IP PBX (such as mobile subscribers), the

IP PBX routes those calls to the IMS network.

 Access side: includes the A-SBC/PCSCF. The A-SBC/PCSCF connects IP PBXs

to the IMS network. SBC use surrogate registration.

 Core network side: includes the I/S-CSCF, ATS, and IMS-HSS. The I/S-CSCF

connects calls to the ATS. The ATS provides services for subscribers and charges

subscribers for service use. The IMS-HSS stores IP-PBX subscriber data.

2.4.2 Applied Scenario and Conditions

This Business Trunk Accessing Solution is applicable to:

 The IP-PBX does not have the registration capability.

 The A-SBC uses wildcard registration. (In wildcard registration, the A-SBC uses a

pilot number to initiate registration, and the returned response carries a wildcard

IMPU.)

 The number of extension number segments of an IP-PBX is not greater than 50.

 If the IP address of an IP-PBX is assigned by a Dynamic Host Configuration

Protocol (DHCP) server, the IP-PBX must send an OPTIONS message to detect

the SE2900.

 The SE2900 supports the IP-PBX redundancy function. When the master IP-PBX

becomes faulty, services are automatically switched to the slave IP-PBX.

 Large IP-PBXs (with the concurrent calls greater than or equal to 40) do not

support TCP/TLS access. If TCP/TLS access is used, calls cannot be connected.
