Learning Competency & Code: Raise questions to clarify issues covered in a

material viewed, (EN10VC-IIIa-12)

LEARNER’S ACTIVITY SHEET

Do you know that raising questions to clarify issues which are presented from
a material viewed requires an advanced preparation based on the goal you want
to achieve?
In viewing a particular material, you should be more attentive to every
detail especially to the most important ones, so you can raise questions which will
lead in clarifying the issues presented in it. You cannot just raise a question because
it only pops out from your mind as you see a particular scenario in a material you
viewed but you must get the entire message of it and if you find that there is some
information which are indirectly stated to support its entirety, then, this is the perfect
time to raise questions to affirm what you know. Asking clarifying questions can help
uncover the real intent behind what is said.
Below are some examples of clarifying questions.
1. What criteria did you use to...?
2. What’s another way you might…?
3. What resources were used in the project...?
4. How does_ relate to ?
5. Could you explain _ in another way?
Clarifying questions are simple questions of fact.

YESTERDAY’S DREAM
By: Donna Cruz

We are the children of yesterday's dream

We are the promise of the future we bring
Waving the banner of love to all
To every nation, the rich and the poor
We are the world of the restless and young
And we need a hand to guide us
Helping each other, build each other
As long as we're together, you and me
For together we stand, divided we fall
Together we climb to the top of the world
We can be what we want for the world to see
That we are the children of yesterday's dream
We have the yearning to do what is best
Be someone special from all the rest
Nation and brothers in unity
Building tomorrow for you and for me
We are the world of the restless and young
And we need a hand to guide us
Helping each other, build each other
As long as we're together you and me
