Technology has hugely changed the world, and the effect is evident in the healthcare

sector. It has resulted in the rise of nursing informatics, a combination of nursing practice with
information and computer science. It is purposed to manage and process data into knowledge
that can apply in patient care. While myriad forces are changing the healthcare landscape,
nothing will change how nursing is practiced more than current technological advances.
By advancing and improving different technologies, the nursing practice takes a better
application where it allows efficient communication. The use of new gadgets like intelligent
beds, portable monitors, automated IV pumps, centralized command centers, etc., makes
everything comfortable to use not only for the patients but also for us nurses. The results or
benefits of using technologies are faster communication, efficient charting, increased patient
safety, and faster lab results. Moreover, technology increases provider capabilities and patient
access while improving the quality of life for some patients and saving the lives of others.
For education, nurses are getting more proficient with technology in such a way that
acquiring knowledge is already faster and better. For example, the devices like smartphones,
laptops, and PC, etc., can already show or illustrate virtual access to watching demonstrations on
the internet or any other platform browsers. And for patients, education is a significant part of
nurses' jobs and empowers them to improve their health status. If there's practical caring, chances
are for positive outcomes.
Let's talk about research, especially in the nursing profession. We can gather more
accurate data, reduce the potential for human error, and increase the speed of the research
process. For example, in drug studies or health research, we can effectively acquire solutions to
different sicknesses because of these technologies. One more example is COVID-19; many
professional nurses are trying to do their best to defeat it and still find a cure by researching.
That's why through advancements nowadays, technologies can help the nursing profession in
caring for people's illnesses.
Usually, in the administration of many nurses, technologies are merely used as their
guide, which helps the accuracy in planning management to make an effective decision. Nurses
work as communication directors and care coordinators for patients across many settings. It
demands a diverse skill set to ensure the optimum delivery of services. Moreover, healthcare
settings now utilize various things such as electronic records, medication prescribing tools,
telehealth, online appointment scheduling, and mobile laboratories. Nurses are all too often the
key personnel required to operate these solutions and maintain the associated data records.
In conclusion, technology will continue to be a significant enabler of future care delivery.
Nursing informatics leaders will be essential to transforming nursing practice, research,
education, and administration through technology. Health information technology will
fundamentally change how registered nurses plan, deliver, document, and review clinical care.
Technology has hugely changed the world, and the effect has extremely obvious in the
healthcare sector. It has resulted to the rise of nursing informatics, which is a combination of
nursing practice with information and computer science. it is purposed to manage and process
data into knowledge that can be applied in the care of patient. While there are a myriad of forces
changing the landscape of healthcare, one could argue that nothing will change the way nursing
is practiced more than current advances in technology.
NURSING RESEARCH, EDUCATION, ADMINISTRATION
One of the primary ways that informatics has changed nursing practice is trhough
documentation. Gone are the days of paper charts that had to be meticulously updated with
handwritten. Today, the nurses are more likely to input notes into electronic health records and
other systems that keep a patients medical history up-to-date and easily accessible. As the result
of electronic charting, nurses are able to obtain information quickly and efficiently, using the
information to improve the daily workflow. Storing the information electronically is more easily
available to all meambers of the care team that the patient may visit.
Well, through advancement and improvement of different technologies, the nursing practice takes
a better application where it allows an efficient and communicates more effectively. With the
use of newly gadgets like smart beds, portable monitors, automated IV pumps,
centralized command centers, etc., it makes everything comfortable to use not only for the
patients but also us nurses. The results or benefits of using technologies are faster
communication, efficient charting, increased patient safety, and having faster lab results.
