IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preparatory Activities
The teacher will provide a game name Minute to Win It.

Activity: Minute to Win It

Divide the class into four or five groups.

Provide each group with set of jumbled letters of
recyclable material.
Give one minute to arrange the jumbled letters.
The group who can form the letters of recyclable
materials will be declared as the winner.

saop bolestt mlik jgus

Ans: white paper, tissue boxes, soap bottles, milk jugs

Note to the teacher: You may provide your own example of

words of recyclable materials.

B. Motivation
⮚ What are the words that you were able to
arranged a while ago?
Ans: white paper, tissue boxes, soap bottles,
milk jugs

⮚ What do you mean by those words?

Ans: Those words are examples of recyclable
materials

⮚ Have you found those materials here in our

school premises?
Ans: Yes

C. Activity
The teacher will divide the class into four groups.

⮚ Setting the Standards in groupings

a. Recall the norms to be followed in performing the
activity.

Say: The materials you brought are needed for the

activity that we will be performing today.

b. Remind the pupils to take necessary precaution in

handling the materials

c. Go around and inspect what the pupils are doing.

You may ask or answer question if necessary.

Group Activity
Group 1: Draw 5 materials that can be recycled.

Group 2: From the given illustration name the materials

that can be recycled.

Group 3: List 5 items that made under the heading

given below.
Paper Plastic

Group 4: List 5 items that made under the heading given

below.
Metal Glass
(See attachment B)
D. Analysis
The teacher will let one representative from each group
to discuss their work.

Give feedback on the results of the activity.

⮚ How did you feel in doing the activity?

Ans: Happy

⮚ What did you do to have an output?

Ans: We help each other, so that we could
have an output.

⮚ How did you follow the procedures?

Ans: We do it step-by-step in following the
procedures.

⮚ What is the importance of recycling in the

community?
Ans: It is very important to recycle things in the
community, so that there will be less garbage and
we could save our landfill and in general, to save
our mother earth.

E. Abstraction The teacher will discuss the recycling process and

how to convert the waste materials into reusable
ones.

Recycling
is the process of converting waste materials
into reusable objects to prevent waste of potentially
useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw
materials, energy usage, air pollution (from
incineration) and water pollution (from land filling) by
decreasing the need for "conventional" waste disposal
and lowering greenhouse gas emissions compared to
plastic production. Recycling is a key component of
modern waste reduction and is the third component of
the "reduce, reuse, repair, recover and Recycle" waste
hierarchy.

(See Attachment A)
F. Application The teacher asks the pupils to go outside the classroom
and look for materials that can be recycled.

⮚ Identify materials that can be found inside the

school premise by completing the chart below
and tell what could you do out of those materials.

Materials Collected Possible Output

Candy wrappers Vase
Popsicle sticks
Empty water bottle
(See Attachment C)
G. Practical Applications of
Concepts and Skills in
Daily Living ⮚ How recycling affects our daily life?
Ans: Recycling affects our daily life by making our
community clean and safe.

⮚ Why is there a need to recycle?

Ans: There is a need to recycle because every
year we are getting bigger in number in terms of
population, so each household has huge of
garbage therefore we need to recycle so that our
environment would not be filled with so much of
garbage.

H. Generalization
Have pupils generalized by answering:

⮚ What are the local recyclable materials that can

be found in the community?
Ans: plastic bottle, papers, glass bottle, wood,
etc.

⮚ What other materials can we used in order to

recycle?
Ans: rubber tires, metals, newspapers, magazine,
